You know somedays you just shouldnt have gotten out of bed, when you buy or own a saxo these days just seem to pop up more than you might think. And yesterday was no different.

As some of you may or may not know I changed my S alloys for a set of Series1 Rallye Steel wheels. Now I had been told I need to change the wheel bolts by a few people but others including the tyre shop that fitted by tyres said there was not need - wont be going back there then.

So anyway the S went in to have a few minor unimportant jobs done yesterday and my mechanic comes to pick the car up and returns it. So he turns up about 4:30pm and says I done this done that alls alright except . . .

He goes on to tell be that bolts in the wheels which are/where the items for the Alloy wheels with the flat face have damaged the treads in the hubs and that I needed tapered bolts for steel wheels. And here lays my current problem.

In short Im looking a Full set of new hubs, the fact that I mucked them up makes me feel sick and I didnt get much sleep last night for that very fact!

But when I was fitting my new bolts last night, the wheels where coved in brake dust, the car on the whole was dirty, there was bird shat on the wind screen and to top it all off my centre caps wont fit now as the correct bolts are smaller and dont hold the caps on so the car basically looked crap.

So Im just totall out of gas, so many things going through my head - Do I fix the car and carry on or sell the car at a lose and just carry with something new.

Christ know what 4hubs is gona cost.

Just wanted to get that off my cheast.

A alloy shop sold me the wrong bolts for my old saxo and i fucked all 4 hubs... I went to the shop and complained and they stumpted up for the gaage work when i gave them the receipt

Thanx

Connor the problem was they didnt sell me the bolts they just used the ones already in there and when I asked do I need new bolts they said 'Oh No boss, this Bolts fine boss'. So tbh there isnt really any come back :(

The thing is Ive seen a R32 Skyline GTS and I got admit its is kinda pulling me towards it espeacial with the S kind buggered - Im gona have to get the hubs sorted but and I will its just, oh I dont know what Im doing

Gona get my mechanic to put together a quote together untill then I'll just push her in my garage.

Can't you convert the hubs from bolt to studs?

Not sure Im gona get in contact with my mechanic today sometime and see what he recommends ie new hubs, recondition mine or sourcg second hand items.

Second hand hubs could be the way, as its only really a front and rear wheel bearing change involved.

As for the bolts, what ones are on the berlingo then? Its the centre's off these on yours isn't it?

Yer, if needs be I'll use the bolts I got last night and a smaller centre cap like the propper Rallye items. shame I liked the bigger ones

mattwesty has run steelies with berlingo center caps.

sorry to hear that dude, i did think the bolts were wrong which is why i said to ask, shame the garage didnt have a clue

Yer I know, in ref to the berlingo centre caps it might just be that the bolts I have their heads are too small for the caps as they are 17mm rather than the 19mm items removed from the car.

I know I'll get it sorted its just Im abit disgruntalled at the moment as the car was dirty and I though why do I bother but having said that - The Skyline I mentioned before further up the page, done a few quotes and half dont even list the R32 GTS as it was an import ONLY and the rest want over £1000 so compaired to my £350 for my S I think I better leave that one alone ;)

Pretty crappy day then mate, i had to put a spare wheel on a couple weeks ago and its torn the threads out of one of the holes in the hub so i'll need a new hub soonish too :err: I torqued it the same as i would have for my alloys though, maybe thats whre i went wrong

How hard is it to replace just the hub (its my rear left hub) or is it easier replacing the whole trailing arm?

Happend to me before after using the wrong wheel bolts :(

It can be sorted, but you must learn from this :)
