Unlucky, but him being a family friend you would have thought he'd help get it sorted.

Unlucky mate...
Would like to think he'd have the decency to help you out with it a bit though.
Gotta laugh when bits fall off the car though, not funny at the time, but looking back on when my sideskirt came off you gotta laugh! lol

If it was in the garage's care, they're liable. No ifs or buts...

Yeah should be his fault - Its in his care, regardless as to whether he hit the ramp, hit it in the yard, or hit it off the yard, he still had it damaged in his care.
If he knows someone hit it in the yard, why didn't he try and do something about it?

get the sod to pay for it, so what if he is a family friend, he broke it, he pays for it. my arch got snapped off by some chav in maldon, citroen wanted £145 + VAT for a new one, breakers charged me £5! bonus!
