i cant stand it when you overtake a car, and then when its time to get back in your own lane, (i.e a car comes opposite direction) the car you overtake speeds up to not let you get between them and the car in front. does my head in, so dangerous too, then they beep at you like its your fault!!!! you ever get that??

another one,lol. was behind this 3 door beamer the other day, its driving about 1 mph. we come to this roundabout. two lanes go straight over so i go in the right. yurns green then he trys to race me, lol. this 40 year on bloke in his 3 door 2 litre beamer what ever it was, i mean how pathetic is that. i obviously left him :P

thats the safest way to over take, you get to see more of what's ahead before you pull out.

people will hate being over taken by a paxo, you just have to live with it. i find that its normally the range rovers that try the hardest.

I over-took a van and a car not long ago to find out that when i got passed the first vechile a car was coming the other way some 150 yards ahead! i was so focused on getting in that i forgot to change gear so was redlineing it! i only just got in! if i had changed gear i would've made it easily lol doh!

Had this happen to me the other week.
Going down a bypass (3 lanes) and i indicate to overtake this lorry in the center lane doing about 30-35 in a 60, so i get past him and then i indicate that im pulling back over into my lane as i was aproaching a roundabout and wanted to go straight over.
The twat speeds right up my arse blasting his horn and giving me some lovely hand jestures.
He then leaves it till the last minute to brake and almost went up my arse (at the roundabout).
Turns out he was completely in the wrong lane too as he was going left...idiot.
I just put it down to the boy racer image the saxo has.

it happened to me tonight! there was plenty of room to overtake on the other side of road so i droped it down a gear and started to floor it, all of a sudden i felt like i was going backwards lol!

chris, not all overtaking is recklass, what were saying is that when you overtake an idiot, etc, its THEM that make it unsafe. its not against the law to overtake......

agreed, overtaking a slow driver is fine when the conditions are assesed and considered safe. HOWEVER, when the a-hole youre overtaking decides that they want to stay in front and speed up, it is them that has suddenly created a potential accident, as they are hindering you from performing the manuovre and keeping you on the opposite side of the road.

Never really thought about it before, but i overtake quite alot and i've only got a 1.1, you have to thrash it a bit but i've never been in a situation where i've needed to overtake someone but haven't had the power to do so, so i dunno why some of you are saying you can't overtake in a 1.1

I've never had anyone close the gap, mainly because if your only gonna overtake 1 car of the 3-4 infront and need the gap between him and the one infront, there isn't actually any good reason to overtake for a gain of what, getting to your destination 2 seconds faster.

went to Skeggy today in my old mans 3.0TDI beast and was loving the overtaking abilities lol the torque hungry monster just stroled passed about 4 cars like they were going backwards! pitty the VTR isn't as torquey tbh, then maybe we wouldn't have this trouble!

I don't get this problem on my motorbike cos the power is immense, so I can leave practically any car behind (except Scoobies etc but I don't attempt to piss them off!)

Get it quite a bit in the Sax though, but having the bit of extra power the VTR has, not had any major probs getting past things.
