i decided to do something about my exhaust today because its the worst part of my car by far...
this is what it looked like:

i started off by getting most of the rust off with p600 paper and then finished off with p1200 paper. there were some spots where the chrome had flaked off and was rusting underneath so i painted some silver hammerite on that i had hanging about (light spots).

can anyone suggest a way of making it look better?
are those bolt on tips any good for the time being whilst i save up for an exhaust?
cheers.

Have you used metal polish on it?. If not, get a few coats of autosol on there :y:

Autosol is a metal polish mate. You can buy it in a tube (like toothpaste) about 6 or 7 qud i think, should bring the exhaust up a treat. Halfords will sell it.

Thats the stuff mate. Just rub it in with an old cloth, leave it on for a bit, then buff it off with a clean cloth. You can do it as many times as you like, the more coats, the shinier the tip will be.
Hope that helps mate.

Theres hardly ever any saxos in scrappies round our area mate, they all et repaired and re sold by the insurance companies, or they just dissapear for some reason lol. Theres 4scrappies round Weston, most of em have only ever had one or two saxos, one bloke hasnt had one in seven years. I know of at least 5 that got written off last year in weston.
Ebay or here, or SSC, are the way forward
