tonight i raced a corsa vxr (on my private dual strip) i started in second low revs he was about 3 car lengths behind me we both booted it and he pulled about two lengths and then we stoped so he was still a car length behind and i was 3 up and he was on his own and the straight was about half to three quarters of a mile long so wasnt very impressed with these as there meant to be 189bhp so was very pleased what do you think also dont lecture me about racing as i dont do it very often only the odd ocasion

then again its a brand new car, bet the fella/girl who was in the car didnt want to flog it too much! you never know

i thought that mate he might be running it in but it isn't his its his work car he was given it to run round in so im sure he wouldn't be bothered about any damages to the engine

there 0-60 is alot faster so he either cnt drive or wasnt trying.

a good vts probably would stand a good chance dont get me wrong, but the stats on paper say different.

to be honest mate if you had both started right next to each other at same time, the corsa would have caned you, just going off what iv read in mags an you tube videos lol.

yeah but dont forget as well,he was three car lenghts behind, an it wasnt a particularly long piece of road, not saying the saxo doesnt perform well but the corsa from a fair start would most definatly pwn you unless you have some decent engine mods?

dont like the corsa vxr would rather vxr engine without the styling. or i would go for the clio 197.

How do you know he was giving it some, if he was behind you?;)

Either you have a stupidly fast Saxo or he was out for a Sunday drive

If you were 3 up, that's approx an extra 200kg your carrying too

So you must have been down 20-30bhp with the weight disadvantage

No way was he hammering it mate, the corsa is 0-60 in less than 7secs and you were 3s up! If he really went for it he would of gone straight past!

i cant justify spending that much on a corsa when the astra VXR is only a few grand more! each their own though but i know i would be going for the bigger car.

dont like the corsa imo, would have the engine but would chuck everything else away... heard a lot of bad reviews bout them...but hey thats jus me eveyones got their own opinion.
if the corsa is that fast the guy would have caught up with you especially if you were 3 up...

You seem to know the guy, why don't you ask him what he did?

How do you know he didn't just close you down and sit there, rather than actually try to overtake at some dangerous speed? For instance, how fast were you going before you came off the accelerator? If I had a Corsa VXR, I wouldn't be doing (for example) 100mph just to prove it's quicker than a Saxo.

Corsa is massively quicker, just take a look at the recent roadtests.

I sat in one of these and the seats are comfy as hell!

And they seem to be pretty rapid. i think it would kill a standard saxo or a subtly tuned one at that.

test drove one the other day at my local garage but had the sales man in the passenger seat :( still did 80 :P but its a damn fast car

I loved the look of these on the billboards and on tv etc, went and seen one in the flesh and its fucking horrible, i hate it!

I used to have a Vts.. That was not slow!

I test droove the Corsa VXR a few weeks ago and it is massivly faster!

You think a Vtr with 3 up will stand a chance..

I own a Saxo VTS but work in a Vauxhall garage. If you managed to keep up with a VXR you must have pretty good mods on your car.

Or quite possibly the guy was playing with you :p

I cant really see this to be honest mate.. My couson has just baught one.. It is quick as fuck! I haven't raced him just but have been in it a few times and it is seriously quick.. He used to have the 182 Trophy and he thinks its even quicker than that! There pritty expensive for what they are but there bloody nice and good fun!
