right guys need some help as i think theres a few possibilities what this could be!
my car is fine on short journeys, but say i go on a half hour or so drive, when i pull up at some lights or a junction etc. the engine idles asif its about to cut out! on a night time especially i can tell, because my dash lights and headlights dim slightly. the idle is lumpy and like i say sounds like it is going to die on me! the car is fine on cold mornings etc and short journeys, it just seems weird that when the car is nice and warmed up, it idles rubbish.
any suggestions?
cheers:A:

looks like one of your vacuum hoses may be loose or leaking as it will make your car stall, this what happened when i had this problem. it maybe only happens when warmed up as the choke will be off but not sure about this!

a lamba sensor causes these symptoms.
diconnect it, take the car on a long blast and see what happens.
dont run her wihtout it for ages though. if thats it. replace it.

wtf or not mate u need the lamba sensor or you ecu will not no how rich or lean its running and wont no how mnuch fuel to put in
didnt u ever hear about the petrol thing that fooked the sensors up yh thewy ran perfect after that didnt they
do you have an open air filter?
it could be the thermo switch, what happens is that the engines getting very hot and evaprorateing some of the fuel in the inlet so hence sounds like its going to die and all lumpy (hunting)

dont have a go at me.
i said unplug it.
run the car till it gets hot and wait till it runs like crap.
unplug the lamba, idle should smooth out if thats the problem. the ecu just cancells out because its been disconnected, the engine will run rich however and you shouldn't drive the car like it as i said.
i'm not saying unplug it altogether
i was just saying thats a way of testing it.
