View Full Version : Please help me find a clutch

Hi.

I'm fitting reconditioned gearbox shortly and it would be wise to fit a new clutch at the same time. I'm not completely sure what clutch to get...

The car is a 106 GTI, running around 160 bhp and will be used for track days shortly and is not a daily driver. Can anyone please tell me if a bog standard clutch will be fine, or will I need to go for a stronger one?

If anyone can point out any standard or better ones, please do.

Most would say a standard would be fine.

My mate just stuck an uprated clutch in his vts, think it cost him around £200 ill try and find out what one if you like but there isnt much difference to it imo. He says it feels stronger but not by much?

If the standard one (Valeo??) is up for the job then I'll get that. It's really a question of whether a stronger one is required or not...

Yep no worries.

Would also like to know the answer to this question as ive seen and read before people always answering with "Just get a standard"

Nice one for replacing the clutch before the box goes back in bud :)

id buy a uprated 1 to be safe,if your going to be absuing it on track a standard 1 wont like it much!

Yes, but I don't know if an aftermarket type clutch is required...

i'm not sure what to go for either i'm using my car for drag racin and every day. i put a standard one in for pod in march and its just starting to go after 3 heavy weekends of dragging it. this one was from andrew page for about £80

I have heard people say the black diamond isnt better than standard?

Ahh thats the one, my mate has an omp.
