hey
Mates got a Mk 5 escort N reg,
Fitting Escourt alloys, of a 1.8 model, his is 1.4, he says the bolts seem a little small, will they be ok or do the alloys need different sizes?
Please reply quick, no pics sorry.

If the car has steel wheels as standard and you are fitting alloy wheels you might fin the bolts will be too short as a steel wheel sit closer to the hub than a Alloy wheel.
It generally works a steel wheel will need a tapered bolt which has an angled bit which flares out after the thread to the head, where as a alloy wheel bolt has a bolt which has a flat head ie the thread just goes right upto the head.
Any tyre shop, the small independant tyre sheads as I call them that do plugs and part worns should have a bucket full of both types of bolts.
Using the wrong type of bolt on the wrong wheel will either not be long enough to hold the wheel on securley or the bolts will be too long and will strip the thread out of the hub.
