Just been on quinn direct, and i must say i think i have just screwed em. My dad who sadly does not have any no claims bonus as he hasn't been driving for 3 year now, and me are going to insure the saxo that i am getting, with him as main and me as named driver. What the deal is, is that i am not even 17 yet and have been acting as if i am passed my driving test and saying i am nearly 18. Quotes have been varying from 1300-1600. But what i have just done is said i am 17 (which i am in 7 days ;)). And a quote has just come out at 896 as me on a provisional license. Do i have to tell them when i have passed my test, and if so will the price go up, or will it be a year before i have to tell em.

Be absolubtely running round the room if i don't have to tell em. Have i screwed them, or is that what generally happens, if it is then i can't see the sense in it.

It won't work. Everyone would do it otherwise.

Your date of birth will difer from your license and if you get pulled over and the police check your insurance details, it will come up as provisional. which will then make the police think that you have not passed your test. When I passed my test with Quinn my premium didn't change at all.

Not worth it dude.

Hannah,

EDIT: also if they find out that you as the Named driver have been driving the car more than the policy holder they will cancel your insurance policy

No i didnt make it clear sorry lol. Im going to be telling the truth in 7 days when i hit the big one seven. But say i get insured for a year (whilst telling the truth on the site so this will be in a week) whilst i have my Provisional, when i pass my test, do i have to ring Quinn up and tell them i have passed my test?. It will also go up by 700 quid if i have to tell them :(. My dad will be driving the car a lot and i will be only using it to go little journeys while i build my confidence up. I would use it for college but i only live 5 minutes away so theres no point.

Sorry dude lol

Yeh you will have to, it's probably illegal if you don't tbh.

If like I said before you get pulled by the police and they check your insurance details and they come back as you've not passed your test it's not gonna look good and it quinn find out they will terminate your policy.

When I passed my test my policy did not go up at all, I just said I need to change it to full licence and she said 'Ok thanks' that was it! lol

Yeh nice one i will try that cheers for the info Hannah. If i ring them up after a few months of being on provisional it will probarbly take a fiddle to work out how much extra i have to pay, so they may leave it as it is.

Well im hoping they do ;)

I mean when i get my saxo which will be about 2 weeks. I will probarbly take out a policy, with me as on my provisional as a named driver. Take the lessons and then when i pass, ring Quinn up and tell them that i have passed and need to be put on a Full License.

yeh ok I'm with you! lol

What i'm saying though is that if your a 'Named' driver and your dad is the 'Main' driver but you drive it more than him and Quinn find out they will terminate your policy as you will basically be scamming them...

tell them the truth on everything, because u cnt scam an insurance company

if u lie, and they find out, they remove ur insurance, police fuck u over for no insurance, u lose license
and wont be driving until ur 21

when u pass tell them about it, garenteed ull get pulled at least once! and theyll check!

any changes to driver, car, address, anything, needs to be reported to insurance companies, any slight hiccup and they will do anything they can to fuck you over

Pick up the phone, give them the quote reference and tell them when you are 17.
