Im a young budding mechanic and wanting a nice little project to get on with during the summer months

I really want to do a car engine transplant but dont want one tht is too difficult, preferably an engine that would fit straight into another car

Any Ideas of what i could start researching

I was thinking about a Sunny and putting a GTI-R/Pulsar engine into it

Comments please

The pulsar idea is good but will be expensive

why not a 2.5 omega v6 ngine in a nova or corsa
or a calibra turbo into the above

how much do you want to spend on the car and then the engin

C20XE then get onto mvaux.com for a 700 quid turbo kit to get it upto 200bhp.....in a nova or corsa it will moveeeeee

Ask R4T about it he's doing one at the moment. But the C20LET engine (Cali turbo engine)

Or get a mini and put an R1 engine in it.

if your wanting a track car might as well have something that can corner rather than sticking a huge lump in some vauxhall stinker that goes some in a straight then under steers into a tree.

Dont even need an engine transplant just start with a reasonable base then spend on the suspension and brakes and you will have more fun

Suspension, Brakes? Stop the jive talk there Scott, everyone knows you only need a massive cunty great engine ot go fast

cheers for the ideas

The Nova idea seems like a brilliant idea, light weight and highly powered :y:

Not looking for an expensive job just wanna start a project that at the end of the day can be tracked + use on the road sometimes

I could do all the work so would jut have to pay for parts

If you had a nova 1.6 tuned it would be lightweight & handle well with the right kit...

Check out migweb.co.uk theres some 1.6 novas on there pushin 175bhp with fairly cheap mods done.

somebody mentioned a Nova valver??

What does tht include ??

Plus I will be changing the brakes and suspension cos I want it to handle well (obviously)

I would build a lo - cost but want it for the road as well

do you want a peugeot 205 rolling chassis? Has our coilover rear suspension and a modified front end to move the engine over (fit a Gti-6 block in there). Custom gear linkages and a wide track front. Full cage inside.
Lots of work still to do but that'd be all yours for £1600. Can post up pics if you are interested.

there are so many routes that you can take. We have run a 75bhp (at wheels) 205 rallye with £3.5k of race suspension, 205 mi16 with cheap suspension that was fast, cornered ok but sucked when it came to bumps, even a few standard cars.
My personal view would be to buy a cheap car which can take cheap engines. Really you are looking at the 205 and Nova.

If you want to work from a standard car then I'd get a 205, strip it completely, redo the suspension with a good rear beam, solid rear mounts, group N topmounts, standard engine with air filter and magnex exhaust system (including manifold), Group N bilsteins, lower strut brace and a bucket seat + harnesses, maybe even polycarbonate windows and fibreglass boot and bonnet. Oh and some semi slicks and good brake pads. It will not be the fastest on the straights but will be a hoot to drive, fast round corners and not overly too expensive to build

In that case get a go-kart and a Civic Type - R engine......

Maybe some wider rims would be in order too ;)

go cheap and cheerful mate, get a 205 1.9 gti, then put as much of the gti-6 that you can.
My mates built several gti-6 205 and they are mental round a track
