hi everyone, i bought a vtr a couple ov weeks ago it had been stood for bout 6 months due to needing a new clutch and starter motor, i replaced the clutch and got a starter motor from a scrappy, came to when i wanted to start it, it fired up fine but theres a whinning noise coming from the starter motor area i think, i was in the middle of driving it to my mechanic and i could see the battery light on, but it was faintly (every saxo owner knows wot i mean) i was just driving it down the road and the power steering went heavy and then my dials stopped working, but when this happened the whinning noise stopped. i got to a junction and it completely cut out on me and there was nothing at the key, but after being stood at the side of the road for 5mins it sorter wanted to kick up but sounded like a flat battery. ive put the battery on charge now bcz it has come off my cinquecento.
would the battery be to small for the car? is my alternator seized from being stood? is my starter motor knackered?
can anybody help me plzz.

it does sound like the starter motor is stuck, it was getting really hot, really quickly. serve myself rite getting a dodgy one from a scrappy. but would this affect the electrics. im going to get a new battery and keep my fingers crossed.

from what ur saying sounds like a charging fault, possible the winning noise is from the alternator belt? slipping ect. when the alternators start to fail its possible the alternator light comes on slighty or this could be belt slipping. u sure the starter motor staying inaged this usually will ruin the starter motor. prob best if u get some with a bit more knowledge to have a look. its possible the battery ur putting on is to small, i dont know what is on a chicken chaser but u need to make sure the details of the betterys are similar they have rating like amps per hour
