How much work and how hard will it be to take the rear axel off my mates vtr and bang it on his new vtr?
As he had abit of a crash
I done my axle swap last nite Its a 2 man job as the buggers are heavy lol.The hardest bit was getting the brake lines off. I ended up making new ones up as they wer rounding when i tried to remove them. Even with heat mine didnt budge. You need to bleed the brakes also mate.

I leave the brakes on and take the axle off a different way. If you take trailing arms off, obviously after disconnecting the brakes from the arms and undoing all the bolts on the brake line brackets then you can get the beam off without spilling any fluid or rounding off unions.
You can also do it completely alone if need be, i've done it a few times, it's a right bugger though, much easier with two people.

i also dont disconnect the brakes. lot easier than pissing about with the brake lines then having to bleed the brakes.

I would have thought it would be easier just taking the brake hoses off? Well that’s what I did anyway!
It’s not that hard to do really… exhaust off, spare wheel out then just 4bolts (2 under the boot carpet and 2 under back seats) and the 2 brake hoses… they can be a bugger to get off though coz they will probably be seized – if I were you id give them a go first to see how easy they are to come off… if you get a brake hose spanner and plenty of wd40, they should come off– just remember to plug the hoses and keep an eye on the fluid level and you will only have to bleed the rears!
And if I remember correctly, you will need an 18mm deep socket too - they aren’t in most socket sets

exactly, they are a piss on, just unbolt the calipers and teh brake hos brakets and it all comes off the axle, then you dont need to bleed the brakes either.
what about from furio rear drums to vtr capilers?
that hard? what you do just connect the brake lines and handbrake cable just like you would>?
