Ok i have been searching for over half an hour, and the trouble with saxperience is that there are too many interesting threads out there and i got sidetracked many times. What i am generally after is if someone could let me know roughly what i can expect to pay for a complete preperation and respray. I just need to know because depending on this determines the whole project outcome.
Cheers!!
P.S Would it be cheaper if i bring my own emulsion??:innocent:

for a proper full respray you are looking about £2000 mate !!! You could also try phoning around a couple of your local bodyshop's to get a rough price.

have a look at Willsy's thread. he prep'd his car himself and that is where most of the cost is. you are looking at about £1000 to £2000 for a decent re-spray and that should include the engine bay and inside

Like the others have said mate its the prep that takes the time and noone wants to do, if you do it yourself its cheaper. Justm make sure the body shop would let you do all the prep there if you dont have a garage. Also buy the best quality paint you can afford!!

For the whole lot done, inside and out inc engine bay itll be £1k to £2k, but id expect to pay at least £1.5k for a good job.
As above also its all the prep that takes the time, been working on mine for 9 days now just on prep and ive only got the VT kit done so far! To paint they can do it in a couple of days.
If you're doing the whole lot definately get the best paint and lacquer that you can afford, ive bought all the paint materials myself including hardners and thinners etc which came to £215 for the top stuff.

my dad works in a bodyshop and said it would be around £800-£1000. this would be for stripping all the exterior trim off, doors, boot, bonnet, bumpers etc, and masking up around engine bay, and door openings etc. This would be best if your just keeping it the same coulor as it is now, basically just restoring it :y:

Mine recently cost about 1300 but that was keeping it the same colour and not redoing the engine bay. I would say that as a starting point, but depents on how much prep needs doing. Mine also included delocking, rubbing strips smoothing, tailgate delocking and inside painting. Think I got a bit of a bargain, but to be perfectly honest the job isn't as immaculate as I would have liked

Yeah boys it is really gonna cost a fortune, and to be honest the car is ten years old and i am not willing to spend a fortune on it as it's my first car i just want to have some fun in a decent looking car, so the paint job can wait till i get a car i am happy with and isn't so old. By the way, does a green bonnet, black bumper and the rest in blue look decent?? Thought so! If your happy i'm bloody well delighted.
Cheers guys!!

you can save money by stripping the car, doing prep work and masking up
