Basically, got a whole list of stuff...

When sat in neutral, with all feet off the pedals, i get a taping.
When i put the clutch down this stops... any ideas?
Also, when driving, i occasionally get a clutch smell, never overpowering, just the clutch smell!
Any thoughts?

Next, When i go round bends, or corners, i get a clicking noise.
This only occurs when i have my foot on the accelerator, it seems to go away when i let the power off...
I suspect CV Joints / Driveshafts... Could this be the case?

Third, I get a nasty juddering in reverse, only in lower revs, once i pick the speed up it stops!
Could this be something to do with the above?

Next, My exhaust creaks where the downpipe connects to the Cat.
There's no Cat there, its a De-Cat pipe, and the standard bolts didn't fit, so I used Nuts and Bolts, with the springs from the original lot to hold it together, could this be the problem? and where can i get fixings that will fit? one less problem is another noise gone!

This list is getting longer and longer as time goes on, so i wouldn't mind sorting it all!
Pain in the arse...
Also, any places i can get cheap engine mounts as a later resort? I think mine are wearing out, and this may not be helping everything!

Thanks
David

I've never known for it to "click". Do you not mean "clunk"?

Have you checked the gearbox mounts? (See below).

Your best bet would be to try your local car parts company (e.g. German, Sweedish and French or Euro Car Parts). You can of course pay a little extra and get some Group N mounts. They're a little stiffer but will last a lot longer than standard replacements. I think I paid £35 for two Group N engine mounts. They were the gearbox ones.

All part of the fun, Id be very peeved if Id have paid full wack for a Saxo brand new, Will most probably be easy fixes though

Yeah hopefully easy fixes.
On the corners its definately more of a fast clicking sound, only when the power is down though (Not hard!)... The faster i'm moving, the faster the clicking.
Its only when the steering is turned though, which makes me thing CV Joints - The boots are fine, checked them.
I get the single clunk when i near full lock, and then going back again, but thats always been there and is normal.

The gearbox mount seemed ok (was a damnsite better than the one that was originally on there anyway), as when we changed the engine we checked that, and swapped it with the spare.
Might be worth looking into group N mounts all round in the end if its mounts, but the creaking sounds a bit like exhaust.. not sure though...

As for the judder in reverse, its quite violent, like its causing something to knock, the car shakes a nice amount, its definately a big judder lol... Any ideas?

If its a rattley click, it might be worth checking your brake pads are tight in the caliper. Mine did this, was the antirattle spring not doing its job. Otherwise i'd suggest cv joint or drop links. Have you had a look under the car to see if there is anything looking suspect?

1.Thrust bearing in clutch
2.CV joint
3.Either that or your brake pads are picking up in reverse
4.scrappy man
5.Citroen dealer?

Right, i went out, and listened a bit better this time...
When i accelerate in a straight line (Just have my foot on the pedal), there is a slight 'knocking' kinda noise...
Front end somewhere...

Could double check the brake pads i suppose though, would they move if i simply wobbled them?

In reverse it definately seems like the exhaust is knocking, as the pads would still catch in reverse if that was it surely no matter the speed?

I had national Tyres check everythin underneath, and he reckoned most looked ok, he said a lot of the components underneath looked pretty new!

Thrust bearing in clutch, would that be the tapping noise in neutral then? Obviously i can't tell in gear, as it doesn't do it with the clutch down anyway...
Bit of a bastard really then, might aswell swap the gearbox back over to sort the starter motor problem while i'm at it, though saying that, it doesn't seem to be grinding half as much today!

But there's definately a noise of some sort there when in gear and moving, all be it not a very loud one, there is a sort of knocking noise!

With the clicking noise when driving check that there is sufficient grease within the driveshaft gaiter.

Cheers.
Just looking for driveshafts now.
Basically, The starter motor seems to be something else (Forget what its called)... And my uncle's pretty sure the Thrust bearing has gone.
Basically, I Might aswell take the gearbox off, sort the thrust bearing, sort the starter problem, and put 2 new driveshafts on at the same time.. no?

That would make the most sense i would imagine, That way, the majority is done at once, and hopefully the car drives like new.
Just needs the clutch setting up, but we'll probably do that at the same time!
Any other suggestions?
Cheers

i wouldn't replace the driveshafts unless you've regreased them, i had the same problem and that worked. save you alot of money!

Just looked underneath.
The Drivers Driveshaft, appears a lot closer to the Bodywork (Not sure what its called) Underneath, than the passenger side (Around mid-way through the shaft).
Could this be causing the problem?

Also, the CV Boot nearest the drivers wheel looks to be fine, however there's a lot of grease around the outside edge of it (Wheel end)...
Bloody thing...
Now its raining on and off, so im in and out of under the car here there and everywhere so i don't get wet!
Any other suggestions to check while i'm under it?
