No, youre talking about a mechanical brake...
The pretensioner is activated in the event of a crash.
When the seatbelt tightens in a crash, a piston fires, which provides extra pull on the seatbelt... or something like that.
I removed mine a while back and had a little look at their design.

Could be.... they are part of the safety restraint system.

right simo m8. If ya put racin seats in the front is therre no way to reconnect the pretensioners so they wil still work in the event of a crash?

Not if you use race harnesses...
The pretensioners pull on the buckle end of the seatbelt... the bit near the handbrake side.
I cant rememebr the layout properly.. you'd have to take the plastic cover off and have a look. It may be possible to have them functional.. if you keep the std seatbelts and are able to mount the mechanism properly! (check design though)
