I wouldn't get them if I was you. Cloud had so much ball ache with them, as they sent the wrong brake lines etc and the standard ones were rubbing. Had to wait a good few weeks for the right ones to come and before they did couldn't use full lock or they would rub really badly! :n:
Better off getting Brembos or Woods. :)
Better be looking after my future car too! :P

brembos use a lot bigger caliper with a lot higher fluid volume though.

Hi Specs fit with 3mm spacers
Willwoods fit without spacing
Brembos would need spacing into next weeek, as Willi says, they're big
what're the cheapest option of the 3?

Willwoods are under £500 I think, the Hi Specs have proper dust seels though
If you're running 16s then Brembos could be found cheaply at the scrappers

That's a standard feature, the lines are too long. I've sorted mine by wrapping them in friction resistant tape and pulling them out the way. A few people cable tied them to the strut. Bad idea, one fine chap from the SSC found that they rub through. He was approaching a roundabout at 70mph at the time... Ooops

Yeh Cloud faffed with his for ages, the garage tried fiddling with them to make them fit but didn't work and then HiSpec sent them the wrong brake lines again and 3rd time lucky eventually got the right ones and so far no trouble yet.

They are amazing brakes. I've found them to be ideal, and this winter, while the cars hasn't been near a track, I've used £7 Volvo 240 pads (the Hi spec caliper is based on the Lucas caliper from the Volvo 240) which has been nice and cheap

Yeh agree with you! They certainly work! :y:
A bit too well as Cloud found out in Germany when he locked up for braking too hard :P lol

It's the angle that the brake lines come out of the caliper that is a problem not the actual length of hose ;)
ASW to the max haha

Yeh thats what I meant, but cable tiying etc. like David said doesn't work.

I just got some shorter hoses from hispec and they were fine for two years, just takes some skilful angling of the hoses where they come out of the caliper and they will clear the wheels. It does take a bit of fiddling. I've fitted 2 other people sets of hispecs for them and they seem fine two years later too.
I do agree it is a crap design though.
Gloss Black S wheels with gold hi-specs, officially for the record look so pimp.

So what size hoses do you need from Hi Spec for this conversion, as i have looked at this conversion.

I've got these under my 15" superleggies.., Went to put them under my vts alloys but as stated you need a smaller spacer. I have the smaller hoses on mine.. they still rubbed so we had to move onto some skillful angling.. complete arse ache.. we tried 90degree angles, 45degree angles and they still rubbed.. think we managed to get a really small angle in the end and it misses the wheel by the thickness of a pube. On a plus note.. if they do rub hi-spec will full co-operate with you, they helped us with the problem by sending lots of different angled hose adapters.
You can't cable tie them back.. doing that is foolish, you shouldent need to.
p.s if you do get them order them direct from hi-spec..

2nd hand, with part worn pads. already had the gti180 discs.
hi spec are a very good set up, the brake line issue shouls be sorted now, as they have been made aware on many occasions that the 17.5" hose that they used to sell them with was to long, and due to the angle that it left the caliper at caused rubbing on the wheels.
the dust seals make them a better option for a road car imo, and the cheapo halfrauds pads still kick ass on track as i have proved

yeah, i found the halfords pads to be better for everyday use :) and also ok after some spirited driving :P :)
