Yep definatly the ball joint mate from whichever side the noise comes from.
Common for these to go.

FCK All mate, about 15 quid

Unless you get the full wishbone then it would be a fair bit more. Whilst your down there id change the bushes too.

Don't think wishbones are that much, worth checking as the balljoint needs pressing in

It could be the driveshaft guys?

Check your CV boots on you driveshafts aswell while youv got the wheels off and check there not burst/leaking!

I've got a drive like yours (your avi) and my dad always notices if a car has leaked fluid and i've not seen any fron this car at all

My last car (saxo 1.1) leaked from a cv joint and cost me about 50 including labor!

Think i got ripped off!!!!

I'll be doing the next one myself

Thanks for the help guys!

combination of wishbone aka ball joints and driveshafts, need to replace mine. If you buy full wishbone order a nearside and offside and change them at the same time. Otherwise the older side will wear out quicker and wear the new wishbone out fairly quick aswell

could be the nut on the wishbones, its worth a try, tighten them up, there under the carpet in the footwells

I had a rattling noise coming from underneath the bonnet when driving over any un even surface, so i replaced both ball joints as i checked them and they was worn very badly, and this fixed the rattling problem!:mobile:

I also have that knocking noise when i lock my steering round to either side, for example when doing a 3 point turn. My dad has checked this out briefly for me and he reckons it is the driveshaft going.

Any1 know how much roughly it will cost to buy a new driveshaft? will get it fitted myself! and wers the best place to go? x

you can get a new one that comes with a years warranty from euro part for like 60 quid or so.. the knocking could possibly be the piston in the middle of the front shock? this happend with my gmax shocks that wer only a month and a half old.. not good..

you could fit the shaft yourself very easily too mate, only a matter of loosening the large nut (30mm) balljoint bolt, could be 16mm both sides or some are 17 and a 16..pop the balljoint out using a large bar, and you practicaly just pull the shaft out, chances are yous need to hammer it to start from the hub, and box oil will run out when you pull it from the box, the gearbox oil bung is easy to get at and you shouldnt need to remove anything to get at it with a little bottle of box oil.. may aswell save urself a few quid.

wishbone bolts are under the sound deadening just infront of where your looking there's a little flap you can lift up and there under some white covering you'll have to stab a hole in it though.
