Hello and welcome to my progress thread:)
Boring details abvout owner:
Name: JonnyQ
Age: 26 (old in know)
Location: Bath
Occupation: Graphic Designer F/T & Graphic Designer & Artworker Freelance ( www.intricatedesigns.co.uk )
Car: Bought standard in Sept 05 with a cracked head, with 45k on engine and chassis, I think for £3300. (Ripped of but wanted white soo much, bets colour for saxo imo, but I am by esst(sp)


Every1's doing progress threads at mo, so I thought I would join in:)
I am really into Motorsport, have been since I come first walk, so my project would obviously aim into the interest of stock/Hatch / saloon cars etc...
Alot of money and time has gone into my VTS as I like to look after it, as well as it is a relieable source of transport and I am a proud to be a saxo owner, the owner of the best Hot hatch of modern times IMO, Light, quick and sublime handling.

MK1 White VTS(Rare as hell hehe:) - V proud:) - But this came at a price:( The story begins...

Here goes:

I bought the car standard in Aug 05. I had my heart set ona WHITE vts sooo much, I unfortunately bought it with a cracked head, of which I didnt know at the time and I rusged into the sell:( My lesson has been learnt!!!!

But here is is as standard..

Only had 45k on chassis and engine (V good for a 1997 R reg) – Clean example

Even though engine was buggered, The stripping slowly had to begin hehe:

ANyway after 3 months I found a donor enigne, a 2001 VTS eninge with only 21k on it, I got it for £600 Delievered.

Then it went in:

March 2006 - Bought some alloys off my bro. (Look at high it is!! hehe)


July 06 Skipped a few as I lost photos, Butn now its lowered 55mm on Spax shox and springs, Stripped inside with Blue Monaco Bucket seats and Blue Sabelt Harnesses, also with a 5" Jap exhaust and decat.
Also has Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 in Balck with 195/45/15 Toyo S1 proxies: Also got private Reg now - J3 ONX For £250.

SPET 06:
I bought some morettes off ebay for £250, which I thought was a good deal:) Even though the colour match was different,
it looked quite good with the black & white theme.

Also got the balvk spoiler off ebay too, as I was going to do a total half / half balck white them.

Then I changed by mind and wanted white alloys, and I saw at the time colsax, was selling his WHite 16's Pro Race 2 alloys, so we swapped:)

MARCH 07 - Bought a new exhaust, the Jap can was abit chavvy and I wanted abit more bite at higher revs, very nice looking tailpipe too i think. I got it from Infinity Exhaust in Yate, I now have a Motorsport Decat pipe and a decat bk custom Exhaust.

APRIL 07 - This ws a big month for me, it was my 1ST Track day at Castle combe, at(Action Day 2007) and I think the I did Ok, the VTS handled well and the engine kept stroing throughout the sessions,
This month I had my Sparco steering wheel fitted & mudflaps and graphcis put on, ready for combe.

MAY 07 - 16-05-07 To the day:
Latest mod, I bought a Enclosed Ram Air induction set-up from ross(thanks m8), it has helped loads for engine temp, and a smoother accerlation pull.

Mudflaps are now off, it was a trial & error idea, resulting in error;) lol

Whats next?

1. Well I have ordered my 10 Point OMP Roll Cage and am waiting delievery, and it shall be powercoated White once all is sorted.

2. Also waiitng on order 15" Team Dynamics WHITE Pro Race 1.2 Alloys with 195/45/15 Toyo Proxies.
NOTE: (16's for sale soon)

3.Getting the grill sprayed white & the morettes sprayed blue.(same blue as stickers/buckets.

4. Eventually 206 gti Brake set-up & Cams/Remap.

I really like your saxo mate, imo i wouldnt put the graphics on but if you like them go for it. if your planning on more track days i would change the spax springs to some eibachs or koni's and get some bilstein dampers, as well as some bigger brakes.

I bought a little quick shift thingie from Ecosse. It's nice to have, it makes changing gears a little more enjoyable and quicker (not by much) technically.

If that car was used only for racing, then I would say that the stickers were fine. However, I would not drive it as a road car looking like that.

The rims are nice, I noticed the little blue writting, hehe, looks cool.

Get some track mods done! It's crying out for stiffer dampers! Anyways... Keep the updates coming, it was a good read! ;)

I understand what u mean ie. road car vs tarck car, but as its both, I am in some wat of a dielemma, but shall decide its fate soon.

Of course ppl, point, laugh, raise high brows etc.. at graphics etc.., but when my proper advertising goes on, (for my freelance company) it should make abit more sense.

Are there major advantages between the 3?

Also are certain ones more practical than others?

10 point has the 2 extra points where your sun visors are. practical are the same, you can have the door bars on or off

Yea these wre VERY rough ideas etc.., but as I am trying to promote my design company, I am going to look of a create styel set-up, so it looks good aswell as professional, and yes always helps if I am going down the rcing theme too. (esp when doing track days etc.. - would look in right place)

I know its not everybodies flavour, ie vinyl, graphics etc.., but I need to make dollar and this is another good way of advertising my services:)

Yea I got mine 2nd hand lucky(hence the blue colour) But I am getting them spratyed same blue as decals/buckets and the grill white

Right the time has come and I am vvv happy:)

My OMP roll cage is now sprayed and fitted (thanks to danturbo) - which has done everything!!! He did a great job for a great price!!! - as usual, thanks again m8:)

I think it has really brought the car together and also with my purpose of direction, in according to styling etc...

I have to disagree m8, only because I wanted 15's, better acceleration, look better(more spokes) and generally like the desing more, Dont gte me wrong I loved other 1's, but wanted these more:)

I am open to sensible offers to be honest, I am in no rush to sell, so it will go to the right person:) I have loved n cared for it so much(ask gf) so I want it to go to a good home.

I shall get a FULL SPEC and more pics up soon, but for now just to mention, its a 1998 MK1 VTS With 68k on the chassis and 41k on the (mk2) 2001 VTS engine. - And in general its in VERY good condition IMO, and very low mileage for its age and a very rare saxo, ie white mk1 vts etc... lol
