steering help/info please.

my vtr power steering unit is making a loud noise while the engine is running but stops when turning the steering wheel. has any one had this problem before? if so what was it and was it expensive to repair? smileys/smiley5.gif cheers.

the pumps are noisy normally and if its performing as it should dont worry about it

I heard of that, it uses to be a lack of steering fluid in the circuit or a bubble of air in it, anyway you should feel some kind of erratic direction or steering going hard on corners...

Mine, did that and then decided to go BANG on me. You don't know untill it goes matey and you don't want it happening on a big corner or the shock from not being PAS, will steer you straight into a corner!!
