Cloned card

Lad at work went shopping in gloucester on saturday, and had to get some cash out of the machine. Asked to check his balance and it said he had £9 left! Checked another machine, same result. Got a mini-print, and somebody had spent over £200 on vodaphone top-ups in 4 days! Found out his card had been cloned. In the space of about 12 days £400 had been taken! smileys/smiley5.gif Got fraud squad investigating now, and he could sue the bank! smileys/smiley4.gif

Blimey. Yes everyone should always cover their cards with their hands right up until it goes in to the atm and cover your hand when entering your pin. Those that can't do that DON@T USE THE DAMN THINGS.

My ma works for barclays and she has personally ripped a cloning machine off of the atm when she noticed it. They are usually strips the same colour as teh machine and are very hard to see.

You may look a pleb, but i always look up above the entrance to the card.

that happened to my mate got his pin number seen and drew out £750 and - £200 so he got robbed of £950 and no one could do anything about it

Apparently whoever did it, used a machine inserted inside the card slot which copied all the cards info and they just collected aload of details then downloaded it all and made cloned cards! 1 bloke lost £3000! Look out for a lip sticking out of the card slot. If you see 1 don't use it! smileys/smiley3.gif So ends smithy's public service broadcast! smileys/smiley16.gif
