just wondering what sort of places are best for getting all the sanding papers, primers and laquers etc. any ideas how much all of it will cost roughly as well to get all of it for a typical refurb??

halfords would be your best bet, they should have the right stuff for the job

oh, it depends on how bad your rims are. the paint may cost you a fair bit if you want it done properely. you would also need different grades of sand paper and wet and dry.if you not removing the tyres then you will ned some masking tape aswell. probs £20-40 maybe more?

yeh i was thinking 40-50 but wouldnt halfords be really expensive. they are bubbled but theres hardly any kerbing so it shouldnt be too bad when the paints all off and yes im gona try to do it with the tyres on

I'm also thinking of doing this...
What kinda paint should i use though?
Don't want it all cracking off over time...
Would use Nitromors or something to get the old off, then rub them down etc, but do i use normal primer? Normal paint? Normal laquer (Lots of)?
Sorry for the Hi-Jack mate, didn't want to post again on the same topic.

Don't think mine need any filler work anyway pred... Maybe very minor...
I'm only refurbing them due to bubbling, plus i'm going black, to go with everything else :)
Thanks for the tip though :)

mine looked bad before i stripped the paint off for polishing but once the paint was off they didnt look bad and sanded back nicely :y:
Sorry for the hi-jack as well
Whats best for curbed alloys, can see them pretty well on my thread...
Not really bad, could do it myself or do i shell out some notes for a pro job and get them painted sexy, gloss white at the same time?
Costs compared to a DIY jobby :p??

Could file them down evenly then paint if they aren't bad...
Or there's a few places.. usually £40 a wheel ish..
David
£160 compared to about 50 odd on a DIY jobby??
Would you say pay the money for a good pro job than do that?
The curbings pretty bad if you look at mine on my thread. I need to paint them back up to original colour to build the surface and layers back up again so they are even then strip them down and paint them.
Any advice welcome :y:

yeah £160 is still cheaper than new wheels.. go for it if they're curbed a fair bit!
Cheers mate, what colour grill and alloys would you go for with a gunmetal grey car?
Had a mad thought today of going gold? lol sounds crazy but either gold alloys and grill or white?
Plus they take responsibility and the finish should be spot on

I would personally just colour code, but i like subtle...
If its gunmetal grey you could always go for another shade of grey, like the VT Kit on some of the rarer VTR's...
Just a thought..
Ideas idea, not liking the gold and gunmental grey idea then lol?

There's a photoshop section...
Go in the main page and near the bottom...
Post some pics of your car up, and someone might shop it for you :)
