:y: My saxo vtr.s gear change has started to squeek and become stiff after car has warmed up , has never had its transmission oil changed as far as i know? Could this be th e problem....Also were abouts can I check the level to seee if it needs change or needs topping up?

you can't check the level on gearbox oil. u just have to drain it. fill it back up till it drips out then wait for the dripping to stop and put the plug back in.

little bit of grease or wd40 at the bottom of the stick does the trick, you will have to unbolt it from its mounting but try not to let the whole thing drop out

According to the hanes manual the level can be checked as there is a filler/level plug on left side of the transmission?is this right??

cooper vtr sorry jus read wat u sed, teh hanes manual says to do what u sed...is it tricky cos my car is lowered and its a pain to gt under it....need a better trolley jack !!!

yes yo can. on the passenger sid of your gearbox there are two 8mm square bolts. the higer one is your filler hole for your gear box oil.
if you take this out there hould be a very slight trickle of oil that comes out. if none comes out then it needs to be either topped up or changed.

i have the same problem mate but on a 1.4 furio, iv greased all the linkages and that, underneath the car, is there something iv missed ?
