Will brakes from a car with the same PCD fit other cars of the same?

Reason I ask is that I am looking to replace my brakes, and everyone bangs on about upgrading to Pug brakes etc but what about a decent Ford set up???

Will they fit (not bothered about the wheel spacing quite yet) and what will be needed to fit?

might need brackets for the calipers making up

yeh the same PCD would be needed, and as l1ukevtr says the caliper mounting may be different so may have to be custom made a bracket!

disc offset will more than likely be totally different so doubt they will fit.
also the hub diameter will be different.

just get some pug ones theyre not exactly expensive, i personally wouldnt try 'new and cheap' ideas to be different on something as important as my brakes

Whats a PCD?

pitch circle diameter! the distance between your wheel studs! typical PCD is 104mm so the distance from one stud to another is 104 it varies on different car makers e.g. from citroen/peogeut to renault or ford etc!

hence why not all alloys fit all cars! this help?

I already have good brakes but want to downsize for smaller wheels

Only reason I ask is because I have a friend that is breaking an Escort Cossie and the front brakes (Brembo upgrades) are going cheapish! The PCD is the same as a sax but obviously the offset is closer which made me wonder if it was possible

its the diameter which the center of the bolt holes are on.

if there going cheapish worth buying and selling if it doesnt work!

they should work, and a combination of different length bolts or possibly spacers would ensure they would!

they wont work though. the diameter of teh hub where the disc sits is a different size. also the caliper mounting points wont be in the right place.

Maybe sierras are different but escorts, focuss, mondeos, fiestas etc etc all use 4x108 but with et38 so need 20mm spacer to use on cits/pugs.

But my mate had put escort cossie wheels on his sierra cossie so er now I am confused!

escort cossie is actually a sierra with a escort shell.
