my clutch bites at the very last minuite and i feel it needs adjusting.

i know there is the nut on the end of the cable by the clutch arm but which way do i go with it.

i.e. tighten the cable so not so slack or other way?

if i do this then does this not just adjust the pedal height?

can the 'bite point' actually be changed?

is it not just the clutch is on the way out?

Might be the clutch on the way out...

The bit your on about will adjust the pedal length aswell as the biting point.

Trial and error...

My vtr did this, all that needed doing was adjusting the clutch and it was sorted :)

My mates did this on his vts the other week, tried adjusting the clutch but didnt help. Needed a new clutch in the end...

its also making some terrible noises so i am also going to change the gearbox oil.

whats the best place to refill it from? the top bung or i read something somewhere about a breather bung and doing it from there. where is that?

All adjusting the cable does is lower/raise the height of the clutch pedal. So if you fitted a new clutch and the biting point was in the carpet, you can adjust the pedal to bring it up a bit.
By loosening off the nuts on the cable, you'll lower the clutch pedal and in turn your biting point overall, although it'll still be at the top of the pedal travel....its just you won't have to push the pedal down as far.
But as mentioned, you clutch could be on its last legs too.
