Details: N reg, 3 door, 1.1i sx, white, no visible rust.

I know plenty of these Have been posted, I'm sorry I just can't seem to find the answer I'm looking for :(

I woke this morning after heavy thunder showers last night. Had to move my car off the grass two secs ago to ensure that I'd be able to get my sister to her exam this morning (tyres are brand new were bound to do it anyway-worried mother) but as I opened the door I saw my 1 week old car mats covered in water!... I lifted them up and found a puddle... quite distressed I pulled the car off the grass to the road leaving a nice snail trail of water... its leaking through!

I felt up around the drivers side and its coming down from the right top corner, all the fabric is soaked and I'm worried about the wires. I popped the engine open and found a ton of leaves by the wipers (beside the point) I reckon its coming down near the wipers on the drivers side but where could it be doing this, theres no visible hole/crack/damage... just leaves and holes that are meant to be there... Sorry fellas to post another annoying leak thread but please help I love my Saxo and I've only had her nearly 3 weeks! :panic:

heres the Photos

Should I DIY her or get the garage to fix her. (They would as theyre replacing my airbag wiring-common problem, and Horn-doesnt work... they deserve another problem :p )

Right Just lined the floor with super absorbent material and tipped a bucket over her... I'd cleaned the area i thought it was coming through (clogged with leaves) and no leakage, success? We'll have to see.

yes mate looks like success! if not search major water leak and there is a thread me and sim69er were involved in, we both defeated our leaks, fair bit of reading in the thread though.

Hi,

I have the exact same problem, I left my car at home all day yesterday and when i got in it last night i could see a pool of water on the drivers side, so i had to soak it up with loads and loads of news paper, it feels like its coming from the back of my pedals, i hadnt drove or moved the car all day, so do you think its running in from somewhere?

Please help :(

Yep sounds quite similar :n: first of all does your car have Air conditioning? Because it could be trickling down the pollen filter, but if you're like me and don't have air conditioning then its most likely coming from the air filter hole. This hole is a *insert curse word here* as in heavy rain it'll get blocked. Right so today it's sunny :y: and I'm determined to sort it.

Travelled to Evans Hallshaw-Citroen dealer (northampton) as I needed some hooks for my boot (only cost me £1.83 well chuffed :y:) but whilst I was there I asked about the leak in my footwell and the bloke told me he has the same prob in his VTR so we walked out and checked out my car. He said that the way he fixed it was simple, he stuck a piece of acrylic over the hole, drilled a small hole in the acrylic to let air through and drilled a hole in the side to let water drain when he drove (depends on how technical you wanna get though really)
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k298/smileynum1/drilledhole.jpg

Popped over to B & Q to pick up a rubber bung to fill the gap (don't no the measurements of the hole so couldn't pick one up :n: ) but must be around 30mm in diameter, the only problem here is the fact that if like me you'll have your wiper wash fluid travelling up the tube :( so drilling is prob a no-go and filling the gap will be tricky but worth it as your carpet will just rot from the inside out which is not brilliant. I'm now gunna moan at the garage I bought the car from, good luck hope this helps

Ok just read through http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57585&highlight=water&page=10 the MAJOR WATER LEAK thread again and I've found some vital info that could help me... but God knows... the water is most definitely coming from the air intake vent/drainage hole on the drivers side... its just below the windscreen. I just wanna now somehow clog the hole where it's coming from; does it need welding shut or some sort of putty putting in

If I don't get this done I'm buying a £15 car cover and sorting it whilst it's parked lol :A:

Right I've done it, I've actually found the hole where the waters coming through :y: a thunderstorm just hit my car hard, as it was sitting there i ran out with a torch pulled back the carpet and looked under the steering wheel column to find a hole by a piece of plastic which seemed to be a clip to connect the dash to the front of the car (?) anyways I'm fed up so I'm filling this hole with some plumbers putty/filler tomos, prob gunna get it from B&q or homebase etc. easy to do.. now I know where to look!!! I'm just worried this isn't the source and it'll build and seep through elsewhere as the hole was definitely behind the plastic joining the metal. It was a blooming stream of water! ah well wish me luck ;)

Shane check your sunroof overflow pipe (thing) as that can split, check your pollen filter (only on cars with air conditioning though so don't worry if you don't have one lol), check where it is damp. On my car it's damp under the steering column with the soundproofing, mine easily comes away, does yours? just squeeze it and check for water. Also poor water heavily on the screen and check the inside, where is it coming through? could be a common wheel arch problem-which is what mine looks like it is. Don't cancel anything out yet as it could be what you least expect mate. I've checked sunroof, aerial, pipes, heater matrix and all and I think I've found my solution :y: good luck. Remember water isn't your friend! :p

Yeah but check out other threads; alot of the leaks end up in the footwell of the saxo, mate today laughed when i told him :n:

I bought myself some nice sealant today from B&Q, but the garage where i got my car from a month ago has told me that they'll fix the leak for me now :y: so i believe thats my best option. I'll take a photo straight after my exam tomorrow afternoon and get the photo uploaded tomorrow evening (sorry for lateness a bit busy)

Your best bet is to get someone to tip water on the sunroof/windscreen let it come down whilst you shine a torch up under the steering column just above the pedals, (don't forget to peel back the soundproofing) and you'll see where the waters coming in. Then decide your best way of tackling the problem.

ok we've had 3 downpours and no water has been in the footwell after any of them... now those of you in the midlands know what sort of weather we've had... to tell you how i fixed it is somewhat a mystery. I believe this is how I did it.

Was at my mates, he was curious about the hole as he wanted it fixed (along with me) before we went away. I put my hand in the drainage hole on the drivers side and put my finger under the lip and got it stuck... :panic: in a panic i wriggled my finger back and forth and bent some plastic... now when it rains it no longer goes down the hole :y: I dont know what to say really either good old Shitroen, or wow! I'm still gunna have it looked at on thursday but its not a priority anymore, another problem solved :A: :y:

Recent update, right the original hole was discovered... now i believe i have a new one as i sat in my car last night as it absolutely p##sed it down there was a trickling sound.

Now I will get some photos up asap as it is running down my windscreen pillar drivers side and forming a puddle at the base of the windscreen aka not good! :n: but i will just have to find some appropriate sealant and the hole and keep you informed.
