View Full Version : total pratt at car wiring

Just taken my console out to start swapping my heater lights over to blue led's. noticed that mine has only one bulb. would i need to buy some pcb board from maplins and cut and mount board and leds to fit. if so could any one tell me what the green and white wire is in the below pic. i know one will be ground and other live but which is which,lol

they should come with instructions if not try wikipedia :)

But basically, disconnect the battery.

Set the meter to "beep" mode (it beeps on a complete circuit)

place one metel bit on an earthing point (a bolt with cables coming off of it) and the other on the end of the leds pcb thats connect tothe car.

If it beeps, thats the earth side.
If both dont beep, then its not wired into the car properly and is switching on the live side which is bad.

dont own a meter yet,but help more important at the mo as console hanging out

am very sure green is the earth mate and the other is the sidelights

if you do get them mixed up it wont blow anything as ive done it on mine, the light just wont light up simple as that :) a mean the worse thing that can happen is that you will blow a fuse :)

was hoping you would input mate,lol. so when u did ur heater lights did you only have 1 bulb???

that means im going to need matrix board cut and fitted then. and add the leds and resistors to the board. dam more hard work,lol. thank you mate.

tbh mate i just drilled a hole put the leds through and bent them over a bit once they were all wired up i taped around them to keep them in place :y:
