I have been advised of GTI calipers and change the brakes

Not wanting to spend to much as i will get the from a breakers also i cant be bothered changing the rear axle either as I have SUPER drums on the back

Any info would be great

Thanks

GTI brakes are the same (I think they're identical, though your disks may we solid whereas the GTI ones are vented)

anyway, 206 GTI ones are the ones to have

U think its worth getting the 406 brembos & some gti180 discs even if u need to use some 20mm (or something) spacers?

* assuming your using 15" alloys/steelies

gti ones are great if you want to keep smaller wheels (steelies)

266mm.

gti180s wont fit.

simple swap over job.

Next step is 206 GTI-180 brakes, which are great

After that it's 4 pots, which are FG

So i should buy the gti180 calipers dics and pads and its just a bolt off bolt on job mate

yup, I think there is a small bit of filing to do on the edge of the caliper IIRC, I've never fitted them

gti180s would need some grinding to the carrier irc.

so are the 106 gti calipers just the same as my quiksilver ones then

They need grinding somewhere, Williams explained it with diagrams once.

Should be a FAQ

fuck that then i just want a simple bolt on job if you know what i mean

when things get complicated for me it will go ALL wrong

They are not complex to fit, just need ot get a file and grind about 2mm off somewhere, it's not hard, you don't need to be precise etc.

That said you do need to get a bigger master cylinder for full effect.

Fuck it, get the 266mm ones off a 206 gti, berlingo, 306 XSI etc, etc etc

Not too hard mate. Williams Tutorial (http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61600)

If i were you i'd go atleast for a 266mm setup. Better yet though the 206 gti180 setup or the 306 gti6 setup

EDITED a bit, forgot about the 266mm setup ;)

The 283mm is the one to have, if your running 15s of course :)

Only abit needs grinding off and this is very easy to do...

Well worth it, i have this setup with uprated hoses and my god you can feel the difference :) Even the bloke that just mot'd my car said they are very good!

I have the 283mm GTI-6 conversion with goodridge braided hoses, stops almost instantly!
