Had an accident at work, meaning I have to pay 750 quid excess (3rd party) through the insurance, but the damages to the other person could come to less than that, so could I pay their insurance cash? Obviously also providing details of insurance to confirm I'm insured, but not actually go through them.

Yea you can, but you need to inform insurance and most companies will make you go through the legal process.

What sort of damage have you done?

Went up back of 206, scuffed the plastic bit of the bumper and damaged the centre fog light thingy. I know that there's all other stuff to consider like rear beam and things, but it really 'shouldn't' be over 750, especially since the black plastic bit is a replaceable part, so a whole new bumber isn't needed.

Id get the guy to take it to a garage, see what bill they hand out and then take it from there. If you can afford the cash then do it.
