Today my cousin came round and tried to fix my subs and amp, all the fuses in the amp and under the bonnet were replaced with new ones as they had ALL blown!

Here's what happened next:

Not the best vid, but you get the idea.

That's not from the bass, the bass was playing but the cone was randomly moving.

What could be the problem?:panic:

sounds like its knackered to me, as if the cone has come apart

take it all out and check it then reinstall it and try again

The thing is it was both cones doing it which i think makes it more likely to be the amp.

All I know is it is SPLX 1000 watts, it's been wired up before and worked fine for a good couple of years, then the fuses blew, so got them replaced, rewired it as i had taken it all out of my car and this happened.

The subs are 12" Infinity's, 300w rms each and 1200w peak each.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

have a good going over the cables, did it work before the fuses blew??

id say it was a bad earth or connection somewere

adam111

It all worked, then the earth cable broke, (the wire came out of the connection) at a similar time as the fuses went, which has also been fixed today. The earth was connected better today than it was previously.

Only thing i can suggest is the switches on the amp. Mine has three settings, two make the sub play treble, you can hear the voices atc. One makes bass come out. I dunno why the other two are there cus its a mono block :S.

I also had to mess with the frequency knobs, input, some other stuff ill have a look tommorow. Took ages to get it right, had to be the right buton setting with the knobs tuned correctly

only thin i can suggest is to take it out an drestart again, if it still does it then its a problem with either the amp or sub

Swap parts with a mates system aswell to test it

actually did you mess about with the settings on the headunit??

as when you disconnect the battery the headunit will lose its settings after so long, so try that before you do anything else

The battery wasn't disconnected at all, all i done with the settings is turn down the 'x-bass' as i turned it up while the system was out of the car.
I don't know hardly anyone with systems in their cars unfortunately.
