my full install is going to be audibahn all the way looks the best and in my honest opinion sounds the best mate can get and audibahn sub and amp for that price but not 15" i dont think possible though!

Seeing as you are after a 15" woofer, i'm guessing that you aren't concerened with SQ and are just after volume. If that's the case, then the RE SE15 would be a good choice, but if you could save another £100 (or buy 2nd hand) the RE SX15 in a 3-4 cu ft ported box would be the best choice in my view.

Of course without an amp that produces a decent amount of power, you may aswell buy a cheap 10" sub. So, what amp have you got or are planning to get?

If you like the whole bling look then Audiobahn is for you, and I understand that it is your opinion but Audiobahn is far from the best sounding. Clearly you haven't had much personal experience with other higher end car audio like RE, JL, Genesis, PHD, DLS, PB USA, Boston, Rainbow etc (the list is endless of brands with better products than Audiobahn, for both performance and value for money).

In fact the companies products are generally disliked because they put too much effort into the look of their products and forget about the actual performance. Unfortunatly, I would rate JBL's cheap GT series higher than most Audiobahn gear.

But i'm not doubting your opinion, if you like them fair enough.

audiobahn have put all the money into them looking all nice, remember your paying for quality not looks, and as said audiobahn isnt the best for quality theres much better subs out there

Would a 15 in the 'correct' size box even fit in a saxo?

Are you going to use or have any sound deadening? If not it will sound bollocks

E13DRIVER

Predator_R32
13th June 2007, 23:36
yeah ive seen someone do the correct size box for an 15 inch RE sub and it fully took up the space of the boot

there are 2 orions actually the new one and the old one bt the new one costs £150 more than the old one which is £200 is it because its a newer model or is it actually BETTER than the old one???

the H2 is 2000watts rms your amp is only 1200rms you'd need to buy a new amp

yeah but i can styl run a 2000rms sub thru a 1200 amp just means i wont get full power bt i dnt mind at least ill have 1000rms of bass and my sub wont blow :) because it cant get turned up 2 the maxx :>

i fitted 2 orion h2 15" subs into an audi and it was the loudest system i have ever heard. the only problem you will have is the amp you have as if you under power them you can and i have seen a 15" orion over heated and is kills the voice coil. you will need 2500w rms on one for it to work properly. The sub won the best sub for its price at the CES show in las vegas a few years back. and the new orion subs can be reconed so if you blow it you just have to re cone it.

Your working on the wrong principals. You can equally damamge the sub by under powering it and by giving a 2000wrms sub only 1200wrms it will not perform like a 1200wrms sub being fed 1200wrms.

Ideally you should have a more powerful amp then needed and then turn the amp down to suit. Giving it clean power and a consistent clean power rather than a peaky clipped signal

E13DRIVER
15th June 2007, 09:11
yeah i understand what your saying but i dont really have money for a 2000rms amp so i would have to just power it with the amp i got because im only 18 so insurance is gunna kill me aswell bt the thing is i can styl power it with the amp i got becuz even if it is underpowered i will styl get at least 800rms minimum and thats fine for me

Barry123
15th June 2007, 09:18
I'd seriously re-evaluate whether getting a sub that big worth it if you cant even power the thing sufficiently.

It's like sticking a scooter engine into a hummer...

as scott said, its far more dangerous to the sub to provide a distorted (over amp'd) signal than overpower the sub. thats why with Db's (which i presume is all your interested in) your budget should be....

'whats the most powerful amp i can buy?'

then followed by the most appropriate speakers.

Predator_R32

what amp is it??

if its a cheap one id sell it on mate and save up for some decent stuff

I can tell you now if you get an h2 orion you will probably blow it if you under power it, like i said i have seen it happen at the shop i used to work at and Directed (the owner of the orion brand) told me that the sub has its own cooling system built around the voice coil and if you drive the sub hard at a power less than 200wrms the sub wont cool its self properly and like the one i saw it burns the voice coil. its your money but like you said it looks like you dont have money to through away. What make amp and what power is it???????

hi yeah well today i basically bought a subwoofer 12" its a pioneer 1000 rms and 3000 max its quiet good but i need to make a good box 4 itt
