Any help would be really appriciated ive already used the search and read many threads, a fair bit of text to read but i wanna give the clearest idea of whats wrong to get a definate answer. Got two main problems, both im 95% sure on what they are, but need advice on what to do about em.

Spec;

2000 W Reg 1.4i 8v Furio, MK1 setup as in transition, cat under the car
60k

First off, its what i think to be a fooked release bearing in the clutch, but ive read something about a shaft bearing a few times, and im worried my clutch is gonna take out the gearbox at any time. The 'symptoms' are;

- Squeeking noise, basically identical to the classic creaky door noise, when pressing and depressing the clutch. Happens when the engines not running, so maybe this just means the cable needs lubing

- Mettalic rattling noise when the car is doing about about 3k and clutch is engaged (in neutral, cant hear it over the road noise in other gears). Sounds like ball bearings in a tin can but kind of muffled. This goes away when the clutch is pressed.

- When the car is being driven, if you accelerate hard and then stop accelerating, theres a squeek noise again very much like a squeeky old door or a bed with a dodgy spring. And the noise 'swings' between a high and low pitch, ee-ii-ee-ii-ee-ii if you see what i mean. If you press the clutch in and brake hard this doesnt happen, which it would if it was just a rotten exhuast hanger or something like that.

- When pulling away, just as the clutch bites it makes a very loud whirring noise. It starts low, then gets higher and stops. This only happens when pulling away.

The biting point isnt high, its about half way so its not fully fooked.

Sound like clutch release bearing, or a shaft release bearing? Do i need a new clutch and box? Where do you oil the clutch cable etc? Ive got some mechanic mates but none of them work with saxos or pugs, would changing the clutch or box be much different to them? They normally work on German stuff, mainly Seat's and VWs.

Secondly, Im 99 % on this one, knocking coming from the suspension when turning, leaky CV boot;

CV joints fooked? So need a new driveshaft, thinking its the cheapest option to get a second hand one from a scrappies. How hard are they to fit, are there any guides? Bought a warranty but it doent cover this, and want to avoid paying garages because ive only ever been let down and ripped off, cowboys wherever you go.

Cheers

Dont worry about the squeeking when the car is off and the clutch is pressed..

My car makes a rattling noise when in neutral and the clutch is up, as soon as its depressed it goes but will only do it when the car is cold..as soon as its all warmed up etc it goes away..

Wouldnt say fucked..its general wear etc i spose..i would leave it mate as its not affecting how the car drives..when it starts making these noises constantly through the rev range i would worry then..;)

Get yourself a new clutch...

Just because the biting point is not in a typical worn position, this doesn't mean that that the clutch is A OK. The release bearing could be in bad shape, and also the springs could be worn too.

On an exchange basis with Euro Car Parts, I believe a new driveshaft will set you back around £60, so get that done too.

Best of luck! :)

Cheers. Ive been looking on Euro car parts. Theyve got three clutches, two are cheap and made by 'Transmech' and 'Sachs', one is 90 quid and it doesnt say who its made by so im guessing its a Valeo?

Give them a ring! They will make sure you get the correct clutch for you car, they will ask you for you reg#...

I would go with the Valeo clutch, it's the standard part for your car, the other one is a cheapie.
