My Gramp just got his first pc (Dell) at the tender age of 85 so as you can imagine he isn't that great at using it
Probs is it has Vista on it which runs slow as fcuk, even i have difficulty using the thing because its so slow.
Now would it be worth sticking windows XP on for him? As i can imagine it would run alot better.

you can actually use your vista key with XP
but yes the recommended spec of vista is very unfair, i wouldnt consider running it (yet) without at least a core duo and 1gb RAM, again a mid to high end gfx card will help smooth it all out

what specs as he got? press the windows key and pause
Get XP, Vista is just glitchy as standard.
I had it on a PC with 4gb of 800mhz Corsair @ 5-5-5-12 timings with a Core 2 Duo running at 3.2Ghz & an 8800.
Still ran poor, graphics were good & it was generally slow just certain programs hung before opening.... waste of time imo. it needs to be run on Iram before it runs like XP!

Yeah, I'd put XP on it mate.
I have Vista on my laptop, it's a Duo Core Processor and 1GB RAM so it runs superb.
