i do karate, i spar with a guy whos does both kick boxing and karate to a high level and he kicks Fu**ing hard,
I entered into a free style martial arts competion and first went to a Brazilian ju jitsu black belt, one on one grappling will always win.

However chances are if you get in a fight in the street the other person proberly wont have any fighting experiience

muay thai is great i used to do it when i was younger, makes you mega fit. Only thing is the way you block a kick with your shins is f**kin agony!

try it for a month if you think its not very good find some where else. Youll only get bored if the training is rubish

Wouldn't bother with Karate, it's for babies. You just learn how to fight like a robot. Too many high kicks, you'll end up getting your bollocks kicked off in a proper fight.

You do right getting into something like Muay Thai mate, my mates's brother does this and he's always going on about how good a skill it is.

Yes if you want problems with your shins for the rest of your life :(

plus a kick to the head tends to put some one on the floor usually for a long time. Not giving them much time to get near anyones balls.

i have done Muay Thai its cracking for all round fitness but i moved on to taekwon do that also is realy good i got up to red belt and won the AIMMA WORLD CHAPIONSHIP IN DUBLIN 2004 haha i feel like rocky haha but i dont think you can beat good old boxing for fitness. all are suited to the indervidual try and see what u like as it quite expensive

top sport to get into but if you dont fancy breaking your balls trying to attempt the splits then i can recommend boxing for getting into mad shape. great for self defence too.

i started thai last year easily the most agressive and underated sport out there, other than ufc, as proper rules its just no holds barred, training is so harsh its 10x harder than boxing not only will you do boxing drills where ur begging to rest as soon as you stop with the punching youll be on with kicking kneeing elbowing or grappling, your never gonna walk into a gym and get kicked about as theres begginer classes, im 6.1 n about 15stone the instructor has won fights all over the world is about 5.6 say 9stone knocks me all over from kicking and punching due to tecnique and speed

my advise. do it

yeah i did it for about a year and i'd recommend it.
its much better than most martial arts imo and i loved it. your shins get used to it eventually and you dont feel it so much when you kick with 'em after a while.
