wtf! window blew up!

just driving back from town now and my back window (boot) just blew up, well and truely!

im 99% sure it wasnt a stone as there was absolutely no one around and theres nothing in my car...


i had my de-mister on... surely it wasnt that?

wonder how much this will cost. great end to a shit night.

mine blew up not so long ago wen i closed my boot normally!! they ment to do this alot!! mine cost £130ish

If it was a electrical fault on the electrodes for the demister it would of blown fuses aswell so may of just been a case of it cracking from the instant heat is it quite cold where your from

This happened to my mates parents car. Not sure whether he found the cause of it or not

thats what i was thinking m8 same thing as when u put hot water into a glass the glass cracks then breaks up.

a bit of science really the temp inside the car is not the same as the outside but once putting heat into the element between the glass in this case its the electro rods. with a glass of water its the hot water itself simple really can actually happen to anyone ;)

Well thats probably because you were driving so the glass would be forced backwards... if you know what i mean.

it would do that bud cos the air would have been colder outside not inside plus you was in motion :)

plus look at hte shape of the window its designed to break outwards ;)

imagine getting a ruler and put your pams on each end then start to push in the end parts at first are the weak points then gradually it moves into the middle and then BANG its snaps breaks whatever u want ot call it ;)

true true mate, probably for the reasons above, have you got tints? as the glass would crack or may be less resistant to this possibly

if he had tints the tint film would have catched the shards of glass and basicly his rear window would look like loads of mini ice cubes lol.
windows once broken are designed to sharter into lil bits which is a good thing remember this glass is always a liquid it never actually gets solid tho it seems to be best way to know what im on aobut go to an old house and u will see the bottom of the glass in the window seems to be thicker then the top lol.

well they aint been to alot of there science classes lol

how do u think glass is shaped its heated up so much it turns into a pure liquid then its shaped then cooled down but deep in the elements of the glass itself its still cooling down but it takes decades lol we just dont see it doing it thats all ;)
