hey guys, few questions about tweeters.....

Can i buy new tweeters and use them with a different make speaker i.e Pheonix gold speakers and Alpine tweeters...... Reason i ask is i dont have the fittings for the Pheonix gold ones, so thought id buy new ones and use the fixing if i can with the pheonix gold ones, if not use the alpine ones instead?

Are tweeters all generally the same size, i.e is there a standard size most tweeters are?

Any help welcomed. Cheers

not sure tbh mate, i couldnt find them adaptors for you anyway, forgot to get back to you about them, keep a look out on ebay for some though, or you could always get them into some pillar builds, there not that hard to build and am sure theres a guide somewere if you want it

just if you get different tweeters and the crossover was designed to operate at the correct frequency for the original ones then the new ones might blow, have you tryed contacting phoenix gold?? am sure they could help you out :y:

nah cant find any mate, have e-mailed pheonix gold but doubt they will.

I was wondering if they are all the same size il order some new ones and just use the fixing from them for my existing tweeters if possible but thats only possible if they are all a standard size

Should be all roughly the same size, Some are a few mm larger or smaller due to the casings and surrounds etc

Wouldnt mix crossovers and tweeters as Pred said, they're not designed to be compatible but up to you if you want to try matchin them and find out but its not reccomended and all that

Thought about fabricating some custom casigns that would be a cheaper option than what your thinking of mate?

I have cut holes in the door cards for them but they do not sit nice and flush, they poke out and look abit bodged, so would like a way of making them flush and secure

Cardbord draped in material dipped in fibreglass resin?

Hard custom made housing that can be secured/superglued to the inside of the doorcard at the angle that you want? Housing will be ahrd and rigid to hold the sound in well and give decent support whilst allowing you to sit them at the best angle :y:
