100quid:panic: sounds like there taking you for a ride, if your not confident take it to another garage and get a quote with them. It shouldn't cost that much at all

dont take it back there, if you remove or get sum1 to remove the heatshield under you car you will see if its snapped or if it just needs adjusting, i changed the 1 on my vtr in about 20 mins so £100 is a laff
the heatshield you want to remove is above the exhaust its in 3 sections iirc you want to undo the 4 nuts holding the 2nd section on and slide it back and have a look but if it went all of a sudden it may be snapped

oh rite cool cheers :) someone said the nuts you adjust are just by the handbrake gaitor on the inside of the car, does that sound right? L

no to adjust it there is a 13mm nut under the heat shield on a threaded bar the more you tighted this up the shaft the more tension its puts on the cable

helps me out too actually- 100 quid- jokers, some guy tried to charge me £80 for one today- why do alot of garages think non-mechanics fell of the christmas tree!?
lmao £100 and £80 when i had mine serviced they tightened the handbrake cable so £80 on its own is a laugh tbh

as said do it yourself mate, its probablies about a 20 minute job at the most, putting the car on axle stands will probablies be the hardest part lol :p
take the handbrake off and tighten it up keep testing it, about 2 - 3 clicks should be good :y:

i need mine tightening, its not snapped but doesnt seem to be that hard a job to do.
My mums went about 3 month ago and our mechanic did it for 20 quid haha so 100 quid is bloody ridiculous!

If you are going to put the rear of the car on axle stands.. Put something infront of the car so it doesnt roll off your axle stands.
Handbrake = Back two wheels only irrc.. so if back two wheels arnt on the ground, nothing is holding your car.
I think i'm right by saying this.
