Anybody wear contacts?

Just been out in the van and started to get a massive bad head, tried my mates specs on and found my vision to be ALOT clearer...I sit at a computer all day and lately ive had some huge headaches

Ive also noticed my vision to get progressively worse over the last year!!

Now i dont want wear specs because i'll look like more of a twat than i already do

Just wondering how (un)comfortable contacts can be?
Opinions on the ones that you change once a month?

I definately need some sort of eye wear though!

If your short sighted and wear contacts then you will seriously struggle at a PC
all day. My eyes are under serious strain when reading stuff of a PC screen with
my lenses in.

Best to remove them if possible then put them back in if you go out or something.

Acuvue Moist ones are pretty good (im trialling these at the moment)

BTW mate my eyes are killing me now with them in. As soon as I leave for work
and im in the car I will be fine!

i wear contact lenses. imo they are much better then glasses they are not uncomfortable at all, you cant feel them at all unless you have been clubbing or something like that and they get really dry.

the ones that you change everyday (what i used to have) are really crap and annoying because if you drop them one day whilst changing them then your pretty fucked cause it'll take you ages to find it again and when you do it'll probably have shit stuck all over it. so now ive changed to the ones you wear and keep in all month. you can sleep in them n everything whereas you cant in the other ones

I've worn contacts since i was about 13/14. Never had any problems with them, once they are in you dont even feel them. i wear the ones that you change once a month and have never had an issues.

What sort of price are these matey?

The ex missus had the ones that you changed daily (and replaced monhtly) and she was forever moaning that they were irritating her eyes....

never worn glasses, but where contacts, and they are great. definally get them, at first they are annoying to get in and eyes just squint but after a month of use its a peice of piss and you dont even notice them.

Can't actually remember how much they are a month. Think it's something like £15? Think i misread your first post. I wear the ones that you take out each night and change them every month. So long as you clean the lenses and steralise the case once a week you shouldn't have any problems.

Tupps
5th July 2007, 10:19
Yeah theyre the ones that she wears, she paid £14 a month.....but now she only needs one cos one eye is strong enough now so its £9

I fancy the ones that you leave in overnight and just change once a month as im a lazy arse

Hopcraft
5th July 2007, 10:20
yeah usualy 15 for monthly's and 27 for dailies

im interested in those too, but tbh sometimes you do rub your eye, and it would be annoying loosing them.

Well i wont mind paying £15 a month for better vision, the head/eye aches are getting alot worse

Hopcraft
5th July 2007, 10:39
you gotta wash them every night for that tho, pretty simple stuff tho. this should get rid of head/eye ache as you wnot be straining.

Yeh i seem to being going slightly blind.. Im infront of a computer all day, and cant read the text so i have it big lol, and most the time i have hayzy vision.. like dunno actually cant explain it. But I went to the opps bout 2 yrs ago, this was when i was nearly 18 and they said ' yeh your eyes are dodgy, come back next year'
Stupid me, I would have to pay out when 18 and not when i was 17!!! havent been back since... maybe I really should...

Plus my eyes seem to get blood shot all the time, I have headaches, erm... oh and those stupid sparkle eye drops.. well dont even get me started!!

Tupps,

I've warn contacts for the past two years. To start, you know they're there but it only takes a little while, maybe 20 minutes for your eyes to adjust.

There are many types of contacts lenses. Daily disposables, they can be annoying having to take them out, monthly disposables, like daily but the same pair every day, cheaper, but you still have to take them out.

Or, which I am wearing now, monthly, day and night disposables. You wear them for 30 days, you only need to take them out maybe once a week to allow your eyes to breath and to give them a clean. They're about £15.00/month at Specsavers.

same but im the opposite when it comes to problems at the start of this month i got 3 months worth delivered and they are already fucked and im wearing glasses.

They slide across my eyes , make them itch go raw to the point they nearly bleed, I have gunge in them when i use them aswel.

As soon as i can get my eyes laserd thats happening.

Ive tried so many different types aswel :(

I'll be paying a visit to specsavers on sat to see if i can book an eye test

Im short sighted, not too badly but enough to have to wear glasses for college and driving ect, so decided id ware contacts instead, now i wear them everyday all day and i have no problems, sometimes when im really tierd they start to sting, but thats about it.

Only ever forgot to take them out once, and i took them out for a hour then put them back in, I thought id forget all the time and tbh you just get used to it becomes a way of life so to speak!

Id never go back to wearing glasses. Its 19.50 for the ones i have an i get as many free replacements as i like because they are mainly made up of water or something and can be disfigured easily, but iv only ever had to replace 2 of mine in 8 months :)

Deffinatly worth thinking about doing! However im not so sure on the monthly ones, mate has them and although they allow your eye to breath leaving them in for that amount of time surely cant be good.

You pay 19.50 a month ot 19.50 and thats with as many replacements as u like?

I want the ones that you just leave in for ages as i couldn't be arsed with taking them out on a night and back in on a mornin

monthly ones are much better.Just when i get up in the morning it usually takes afew minutes for your eyes to adjust. You never really have to think about them 1tbh especially after a piss up who knows where youll end up kipping.

i pay 12.50 amonth from specsavers

Amiee

really do think nothing of it now, just do it before i do my make up inthe morning take them out before taking make up off ect, at first it did my head in but doesnt bother me at all, only thing that annoys me is when im drunk and take them out, and in bed then realise i have them in lol, but thats it :)

and yeh 19.50 its a bit more expensive than specsavers ect but i go to a lil family run place in town, better service imo :)

Im definately going for the ones that you leave in for a month.....couldn't be arsed to put in and take out everyday!

i had perfect eyes until i started working in an office where i had to sit at a computer all day. then i'd go home and do the same. (like i'm doing now lol)

i think my eyes gradually got worse and still are, need a new perscription like every 6 months usually it's like every yr to 2 years for most people.

i wear glasses for work because i just cant be bothered putting contacts in first thing, plus my eyes get dried out in work, so they start to sting in the afternoon.

but basically when i'm not in work i blast contacts. BEST INVENTION EVER. i wear the daily one's from specsavers £22 sheets a month by d/d and they deliver them every 3 months for you.

At first i found it very hard to put them in and out. (seriously 6 visit's to specsavers, about 40 mins each time just before i got the 1st 1 in) but after that i got the hang of it.

They can be uncomfortable at times, just make sure you keep putting eye drops in to keep them moist, my eyes dry out quickly so this really helps.

Cant really think of anything else, your optician will advise the best contacts for you, they will prob advise monthly ones as they can be made at the opticians, where as the daily one's are made by other companies i.e. one day accuvue or whatever. So they wont be making any money off you (not much anyway)

If you cant put them in straight away, dont give up keep trying. if you need any advice about putting them in and out pm me, as i found a different way of doing it that i found very easyier and quicker.

oh and sorry for the absolute essay

not everyone is suitbable for these, again your optician will be able to give your more advice as i wanted these and they said because of me having dry eyes they didnt recommend them

oh forgot to mention the only problems i had was where i had worn them for work and it was later on at night so had, had them in for like 15 hours, i rubbed my eyes and one of them ripped and half of it fell out but a bit of it was still in my eyes but went ontop of my eye. just went to opticians next morning and they got it out for me. didnt really hurt, sort of ached a bit in the morning and was just irratating.

Im with 4sight opticians and mine are £15 a month. I have the ones that last 30 days. Apparently they can stay in 6 days but i take them out every night. For my £15 I can have as many replacements as i need and get free check ups for them.

Only problem with lenses is you get head aches and saw eyes using computer.

Aiii, since I started working in an office my eyes have got worse. I got an eye test and they said my eyes were ok just that sitting on a computer all day was making them short sighted. When driving at night other cars lights blind me now, they said it was because of working on a pc all day aswel, they told me having glasses wouldn't really make a difference....... good ey!

Dont worry mate, I have been wearing contacts for three years.
Your contacts are not strong enough, straining your eyes, giving you headaches.
I am currently going through this now also, as the company I am with have not supplied the correct specs on my contacts.
Just go to your supplier and arrange an contact test, and your specs will be changed, and the headaches will stop.
I used to have big pains when putting in my contacts, this was the because of the make of contacts I had in my eyes, I changed brand and they are now much better.
Just get an oppointment sorted.
