View Full Version : Going to look at some new cars today. Sorry saxo people :(

It is all down to my dad. He has always hated me driving a saxo, as well lets face it there is nothing really to them in the event of a crash. But this is why I love mine. It's quirky. Well anyways, my dad insists on getting me a new car. So of course I didn't say no in any way.

The two cars I am really thinking about are -

1) Mitsubish colt CZT 1.5 turbo
2) Vauxhall corsa 1.2 twinsport (I like the look of them in black)

But this is where I get stuck. I can't think of any other sporty cars out atm for a 19 year old. So far the Colt CZT has been the best for me to insure, every quote has been under £1,500 on my own.

This is where you noble saxo owners come in and save me from going Jap and getting a nice french car. Preferable with some rather tasty performance figures :D.

Cheers all

P.s I won't be getting rid of the saxo when/if I get a new car. I can't face getting rid of her

A newish shape clio would be good! 1.6 16v are pretty decent :)

I'd still go for the colt though, love them things :)

I do love those clio's. Just I am waiting for a few years until I can get a 182 :D.

They are rather nice aren't they. On parkers, the 0-60 is the same as the VTS. :y:

Stick with the colt man, looks very nice.

Thats a good quote considering its got nearly twice the power of you're saxo lol, i think you'd be more than happy with it.

I am going to test drive a C2 Loeb edition on Tuesday and if I like it (soo sure I will do), it will be mine. The guy at this citroen garrage knew my dad, so he has reserved it for me until Tuesday. He was a complete legend.

No none buys C2s so it'd still be there either way. Not a safe car either

It must be safer than a saxo. Well either way, I love the look of the Cpoo loeb. I know its slightly slower than the saxo VTS but oh well. It will be more reliable and it has air con :)

Do you really want a C2? I mean, really want one?

Out of those 2 cars you mentioned, well, what a difference! One is 148bhp and 140bhp per ton (surely as quick as a Vts if not quicker) and the other is..................errrrrrrm a bit gay and also shit! :homme:

Has the insurance on the Mitsubishi put you off or something, it is quite a high insurance group. Is it something daft like 14?

What about a Corsa Sri or Lupo Gti.........both better cars than the C2 imo and I reckon cheaper to insure than the CZT.

By the way, the Sax was considered to be pretty good on safety when it first came out. Bit unfair to compare safety issues to modern cars. Although, yes, tis relevant if you go on current safety ratings.

I decided not to get the colt, as I only wanted it for the power. I didn't like the look of it at all. So that ruled it out.

The C2 I have always thought to be a really nice looking car. I just love it.

I haven't looked at the lupo GTI. I always thought the insurance would be stupid on one. Whats the insurance group on one?

The corsa was ruled out, because I don't like Vauxhall very much. Don't get me wrong, vauxhall makes some good cars just I don't like them. Like some people don't like Skoda, even though they pretty much are a VW.

The Lupo isn't that fast so insurance should be fine.

The only one of the "slower" hot hatches like the C2 I'd consider would actually be the Skoda. The Fabia VRS is reasonable on insurence, amazing on ecconomy (Genuine 45mpg, when driven by me, just before it was traded in, not paying for the fuel) and seriously quick. In the real world a C2 VTS wouldn't keep up. Availible from 6k, they look cool without the "chav factor" and they even have enough space for 5 adults.

I'd swap my Saxo for one

According to Evo, the Lupo Gti is group 11 which aint bad considering.........

125bhp (128bhp/ton) and weighs only slightly more than a Vts.

Can't see the Vts being significantly quicker in a straight line unless someone knows different........

Was that the Skoda Fabia VRS diesel david? I do really like these cars. They are a cheap VW, which always goes down nicely.

The C2 VTS does 0-60 in 8.3(ish) seconds, I can't see what is wrong with that to be honest.

Thing is, my dad is only going to buy me a brand new car and from what I believe they stopped making the lupo in 2005.

My sister had a lupo 1.4 SE and it was so fast for a 1.4. My saxo couldn't keep up after 70mph, it just flew off. They are brilliant cars. Maybe I can convince my dad into test driving one

Can you afford a Fiesta ST ?

(or your dad!)

I can't say I like them very much. 150bhp from a 2.0L is very naff indeed. Plus the stripes, make them chavtastic in my opinion. Also the fact that they are insurance group 13 doesn't help very much, as I am 19

Fair enough. I don't think many people on here like them, I do though and I like the chavvy stripes!

On a different subject, saw a Focus ST the other day in white with stripes down the side. Looked absolutely mint!

Oooo I do love those Focus ST's. Can't say I have seen one in any other colour apart from Orange actually lol.

On Tuesday I will go test drive this C2 VTS Loeb edition, but I know I will love it.

Against a saxo VTS how much of a difference is there?

I will be keeping my flat arched 1.4 for a project car, so it may well be VTS'ed later on in there year.

The C2 wouldn't see which way the Saxo went. They also don't handle anywhere near as well.

Ignore 0-60 times, they're balls
