gear selection problems

alright people. needing a bit of advice for a friend. he`s got a corsa gsi with a 2litre 16 valve redtop engine fitted. he`s having bother with selecting the gears. 4th gear keeps jumping out of gear ,and 5th gear doesn`t always select. anybody be able to give me some advice for him? i thought it might be the gear linkage? but im not a mechanic so im not sure. anybody able to show us the way? cheers in advance:y: :y:

Sounds like an internal gearbox problem to me, does it crunch? difficult to select etc?

no crunching. selects 1st/2nd/3rd/4th perfectly. just keeps jumping out of 4th and hardly ever goes in 5th. when it is in 5th its fine, just difficult to put it in there.

might be gear selector mate, had same probs on my saxo cud get 1st 4 but not 5th and rev had a new selector from shitron 27 quid just gettin it fitted tomoro, shud be reet then touch wood

well thats what we thought. but problem is would he need a linkage for a 2litre engine or are they all the same?
