hey all. well where do i start. i owned a vtr for 6 months and then the starter motor packed in so i took it to the garage and all was fine, 3 days later i reverse at the end of the road and the car stalls and begins smoking. so i turn it off and get out with the keys. then the car starts to try and start on its own with no key in the ignition. sh*t myself wasnt the word lol anyway 5mins later theres a crowd and a fire engine putting out the flames pouring from my car. car totaly knackered and myself crying like a baby inside. anyways would anyone know the cause of this? lol cheers for reading it sorry its so long. can post pics of car but dont know how. :n:

Sounds like overheating dodgy wiring Jazz. The insurers will try and trace the fault. blame the garage.

about the car: seems as if when they put your new starter motor in(im guessing they did?) they have not connected it correctly and you have had an electrical fire  sorry to here that about your car mate

I also cried if I was you :( ... That sounds like an electrical problem :wall: ... If you say that the car was trying sarting by him self, sounds to me like a short circuit in the starter motor solenoid, or a bad linkage made in the garege :rage:

Thats sounds terrible mate. Did you have a garage fit an alarm or anything to do with the electrics. Unless they messed up the wiring for the starter motor.

Glad you weren't in the car pal. By the sounds of it as said many times above, it was an electrical fault. More than likely to do with the start motor if it tried starting by itself.

Police & Insurance company will trace the cause.
