Hey.
Over the last 2 months the power 2 my head unit kept dying on and off, when went over a bump or when braking, i just figured was loose wire or summit. Now the head unit has no power to it at all!!

The other prob ive got is that my dials dont seem 2 be working, when i turn the key 1 click 2 power up the dash, the needles come up ok but when i give it a few revs all 4 needles drop to the bottom (oil temp, petrol gauge, rev counter, spedo). And also the backlight on the dash if off.

Just thot i wud note that my batt. recently died and replaced it, would that effect it in anyway?

Thanks for any advice in advance, contacted a few garages they all seem 2 think that its a loose earth cable and that its a time comsuming job - which cost more ££££££

If is what they say, a bad earth linkage, is very simple to discover it and solve it... Just a simple multimeter and some inches of wire will do the trick...

Other prob ive got is that i fitted the new batt and overnight its been drained aswell, is this all conected with the loose earth, also when fitted new batt when engine is running i measured the voltage across the batt which was 18v no lights or anything on! A guy at work was sayin that was 2 high a reading - any advice?!

a mate had the same problem, which turned out to be a dead rectifier in the alternator, which led to overcharging the battery. Worth a check.
