are alternators swapable?

do all alternators from saxo's fit each other. as in would a mk2 vtr alternator fit a 1.1 mk 2 forte?

99% sure

i know 106 petrol and diesel ones fit all saxo's..

No not all of them will. Mk1 1.1's have the really thin belt and the mk2s are much thicker. The pulleys are both different aswell obviously. I think all the vtr belts are the thick ones, i would check first mate, but i think you might be ok with what you want to do

they also have so many different ratings, but not sure if that matters too much

diesel and 1.1 106 ones dont i tried both on my vtr and neither fitted vtr/s gti ones do
