i have just bought a 1.4 1999 westcoast last week, and i keep getting a really strong smell of petrol when i start it up and when im driving and then it seems to go off a bit until i have to stop at lights or whatever and i can smell it again. does anyone know what this could be?!
also after approx 20mins it gets so hot inside.. i think the whole car gets hot actually cause the fans on alot?
(i probably sound really thick but im a 17 year old girl and this is my first car)
one other thing, the car had a years mot just put on when i bought it but i just did a test history check online and i found out it failed twice this year, which they didnt tell me about, and there was a whole list of things wrong! ive pasted some of it in if anyone can help? Am i driving a piece of sh*t?!

you have a few things wrong there but none of them are big jobs really, the only bigish ones there are the ball joint and the CV joint gator and if they are both on the same side it makes it a bit easier! if you know someone that can do the jobs for you it should only cost around £100 if you can get the parts from a scrapy, oh i for got about the fuel thing take it your local citroen dealer or specialist and get a diagnostic test done as it could be a sensor causing the problem.

I would try flushing your car with redx, which cleans out all the injectors. My mate had this problem when he kept smelling petrol and it cleaned the system, not it smells fine. Cheers

i'd use slick50 rather than redex. its most effective when you let your petrol go right down then put the stuff in (first) when you fill your car up, this way it gets properly mixed in with the petrol ;)

Just looking at what your car has failed on, things like worn tyres and brake pads are just general wear and tear...but missing side repeater? lol how?

has the car been serviced recently?

haha, i dont know? really i dont even know what a side repeater is!
i'll try flushing it though.. what exactly do u have to do? how much do u put in?
:dweeb:
btw, my mum took my saxo to get ANOTHER mot a couple of days ago by a different garage and theres more stuff wrong with it. Apparantly the other garage shouldnt have passed it cause theres loads of stuff it should of failed on. im so pissed off cuz its now just sitting on my drive and im not allowed to drive it!!

i dont know about the service, i didnt get any service history when i bought it so probably not? ive only had it a couple of weeks!
im a bit annoyed cuz the garage i bought it from said it was fine and they had just put a years mot on it and there was nothing wrong with it, my mums on to trading standards lol..

Mine failed saturday on Passenger side CV gaitor, got the part for £15 and doing it myself tommorow, not that bad a job. Side repeater is the indicator by each door.
