View Full Version : Damp drivers footwell

I lifted up the carpet in the drivers footwell to check the suspension bolts because my car is clunking round corners and the sound proofing is soaking. The carpet and car mat above are dry as a bone though so it must be coming from underneath?
Any ideas?

I doubt the problems are linked, but car clunking round corners I'd say would be your differential going, meaning you'll need a new gearbox soon

for the leak you need to check a number of things:
- The seal around the sunroof
- The aerial base
- The sunroof
- Door sills
- Window sills
- Windscreen seal
Check all of them, possibly pouring water on the areas to check where it's coming from.
If you're still stuck, check the related threads at the bottom of this page. Some of them should be able to help you out.

That would make sense if the carpet or mat was wet but it isnt, its from sound proofing down. O well, i will see if it goes later on.

it is likely to have trickled down through the gutters or seals etc so it may not have made the carpet itself wet. If you leave it, it will eventually start to smell :( :n:
