By now you may have noticed the new RAC information knocking about the site. The RAC have generously offered all Saxperience members a discount of 15%, when taking out breakdown cover with the RAC.

This is the first in what will hopefully be a range of discounts from the RAC.

I hope you will agree with me however, that the breakdown cover prices are VERY reasonable!

Full details can be seen in the RAC Article >>> (http://www.sax-p.com/community/partners/show-article.asp?artid=95)

Errr, yeah, I've used the RAC quite a few times since owning a Saxo smileys/smiley17.gif

The nice fellows even took my car upto Scotland for me a few weekws ago smileys/smiley9.gif

Wonder if I can get them to bring it back for me smileys/smiley17.gif

Seriously though, Ive not compared prices to other outfits, as Ive always used the RAC... I cant knock them for service!

With my last episode with the car they called me back about 5 minutes after I reported the problem to tell me a truck had been dispatched.. a low-loader as I had requested.

About 40 minutes later they called back again to confirm that my car had been picked up, which it had.

Then they offered me a courtesy car for 3 days, which I actually declined as my car was gonna be off the road for much longer!

A good result in my book smileys/smiley2.gif

I think the cover also covers you if you are a passenger in someone elses car and it breaks down... would need to confirm that though. I know it works like that for some of their packages. smileys/smiley2.gif

The packages explained...</font>

Roadside</font>

Our entry level of cover entitles you to roadside assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year anywhere within the UK, whether you are the driver or passenger providing you are at least 1/4 mile from home. If we can’t fix your car at the roadside within a reasonable time, then we’ll give you a tow to a nearby garage within a 10-mile radius.

Roadside & Recovery</font>

Recovery is only available in addition to Roadside. If we can’t fix your car locally within a reasonable time, then we’ll take you, your car and up to seven passengers to any UK destination.

Roadside & At Home</font>

At Home is only available as an addition to Roadside cover. It’s one thing breaking down in the middle of your journey, it’s quite another if you can’t even get your car started. With At Home, one of our patrols will come and assist you ”“ even if you haven’t left home.

Roadside, Recovery and At Home (Standard cover)</font>

Includes all of the benefits of Roadside, Recovery and At Home plus a £25 no call-out discount every year that you don't use this service!

Fortunately I've not needed to call the RAC for many years, but when I have they've always been very helpful and efficient.

I'm reminded of one time when I broke down in Epping Forest a few years back. It was 7 in the morning and it was raining. My car wouldn't start so I left it in the car park and went in search of a public telephone to call the RAC. I searched high and low and had been walking for ages before I eventually gave up and decided to return to my car (not knowing what to do next).

Imagine my surprise when I returned to my car to find an RAC van parked alongside!!! (The driver was on his break). I tapped my membership card on his window, and after he finished his sandwich he got my car running.

Fantastic!

Shit! I've got AA Option 4 (i think) which is Home-start, Relay and Relay plus, basically the same as the dearest RAC option. Used my SSC discount this year and its £130.

As oz said, they have been good, used them on a fair few occasions but....... sorry, next year it will be the RAC i think!

Well done simo. smileys/smiley20.gif

Sorry, I will add that bit into the article smileys/smiley2.gif

Regarding the insurance offer I need to contact them again to give them an idea of what 'we' want from them...

A % discount is not available I feel, due to the cut-throat operations of some brokers, but they have so far offered discount in the form of road-tax-vouchers.

so that when you buy road tax, you hand a few vouchers over instead of paying it all cash?

What do 'you' want from them?

******************

There are a few discounts that I am working on...

I think thats what every1 is crying out for simo, i think if they got a good discount then we would obviously use them. if 500 members from this site was to go thru them then i would presume that would be good buisness.

"whether you are the driver or passenger"

IMO, sounds like its the person who is covered...
