View Full Version : Ridiculous Price on Insuring a 1.1
OverKill

Hey, I'm new to the forum and I have a big problem.
I've been looking around on the net for Insurance on my Saxo 1.1i.
It's my first car and I still cant drive.
BUT!.
I've been going around and the cheapest people are offering me on a 1 point fricking 1 is £2500.
I'm parking it on a private drive, and I'm gonna be doing nothing in terms of mileage.
Surely that can't be right?
Got any Ideas on why the prices are so High?
Or know anywhere cheap?
:n:
Thanks.
Dave.
could be your area code, job, age.

I'm 17.
Live in tamworth, which isn't exactly hansworth.
And I work for Currys.
I'm still not convinced it should be that high!
I dunno, Is that normal?

how does your postcode fair in that? tbh it may be worthwhile going TPFT

I'm afraid to say that it's probably normal (if there is such a term with regard to insure premiums)
first of all as Baz said, a likely reason could be postcode...
see here (http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43065)
Secondly try all the little insurance tricks in the book...
add your parents as named drivers for instance.
Ultimately you're a new driver and considered a BIG risk to an insurance company hence why the premium is MASSIVE.
good luck man

Overkill,
That is overkill on their part, i suggest you try elsewhere- try comparison sites such as www.moneysupermarket.com and also give express insurance a call who are brokers but will get you a good deal.
I think thats simply outrageous and quite frankly unrealistic, im quite sure you will get it cheaper than that!

Well I fit into the A section
B78!
I'll keep looking, I've been told by a friend that The Farmers Trust are dirt cheap, sounds dumb, but I'll give them a try, I can't afford £2500.
Thanks for all your help people, I'll make sure to try "Money Supermarket" or "quinn".
BTW - It has New alloys, New sub and speakers ETC and Did have a fricking massive spoiler on it until I removed it.
Would The alloys and Sub ETC affect the price?
Cheers.

insurance has gone up massively in the last 6 months, due to the number of uninsured drivers on the road. my renewal quote when up £1300 with no extra mods or claims and i had turned 21.
i would recommend being a named driver to be honest its much cheaper
also give brentacre a try they have saved me £££

i pay £976 as well although thats only on a provisional and been told it wont go up, Try doing quotes on a provisional license get it insured before you pass its worked out cheaper for a few of my mates.
Ring Quinn Direct... Dont do there online quotes i used them it was bringing up £1400 all the time no matter which saxo i tried MK1 or MK2 and changing the value higher and stuff. Then when i rang give me £976 TPFT Bargain i though. Plus im in an F* in my area for theift rating (Leeds isnt it lol)
