Managed to crash into the back of someone yesterday, was my fault. As we pulled up to the juntion it was clear on the right so i looked in front of me and the car was there i then checked right and it was still totally clear so i put the foot down to pull away. when i looked forward he was still there so i ploughed straight into the back of him (i must have thought he would have gone by then).
Everyones fine but the saxo took a bit of a beating, been informed that its almost certain to be a total loss.
Question is how long does it take the insurance company to pay out and how much will i roughly get (Mrk2 VTS V plate 99, FSH , 97000 miles)

i guess you have fully comp then...
i will get what the car is worth it you sold it, well what the insurance think it is worth anyway. can take years but if everyone says what happened and there are no problems then could only be few weeks.

Shame about the crash mate, at least you honest that's it's your own fault, not sure how long it takes to pay out. Give them some ideas of VTS in autorader around the same like FSH and same milaege/ condition of the car, show them the adverts and you will get somewhere around that price.

If youre with Norwich Union then expect them to take at least a few month to sort your claim out!

got my settlement :-).
They phoned me up and offered me 1700 and i turned that down. he then said they were on autotrader for 1900, So i had a look while i was on the phone to him and the cheapest mark two was £2400 so i said no. He then said split the difference (2150) and i said no again as the next one was £2850. He then offered £2500 which i have accepted.
Together with the £600 refund for the stolen sound sytem works out at £3100......What a result (for a V reg saxo) !
I tried to sell it just before the smash for 2200 and no one wanted to buy it so it all worked out in the end

Glad it all worked out in the end matey and the settlements decent but wouldnt you take the second offer?
£2850 sounds better than £2500 to me?
Just being petty :p
