Must be a bit better than that??
my VTS can hit around 140
and 0-60 of around 7 secs and im fitting more performance stuff in the next few weeks to boot

Anyone know what Simo is currently running when he pushes it?

Ben306* whats he running?

S1 106 rallye, 16v Conversion running lots of bits.

Tops out at about 130 due to the box but does low 14's, 0-60 has to be low 6's and Its awesome around a track help by the fact the lad can really drive.

Never been on roolers but it will have to be soon for mapping as hes put new cams in (gone from fast road to full rally/race) I reckon its around the 170bhp mark and 750kg.

In all honesty... I dont know anymore!

My car's not been on a rolling road since November 2004, where those power figures were recorded. Since then a few things have been changed and the Apexi has been mapped at two elevated boost levels... but currently I'm running it in low boost mode (0.7bar).

I purchased a larger turbocharger to remove back pressure, cool the inlet charge and increase the boost pressure, but Ive not fitted it due to the existing (smaller) unit creating too much power for the transmission.

One day soon, I'll strap the new turbo on and do something fancy with the transmission... but there's no immediate plans for this ;)

Until then, I guess the car's developing nearly 200 at the wheels, dependant upon conditions.

Any readers having spare gearboxes and driveshafts to donate, please feel free to ;)

just curious tho not slating saxo's by far i bought mine cause its a good all rounder... but why would people wanna sepnd thousands turboing them etc if they can't cope with the boost pressure and don't put in awesome times... agreed my mate's 106gti got 15.0 1/4 when he had done alot to it BUT even then IMO no car gets respect unless it breaks the 13's.. ???

its not about "respect" though adam its about doing somthing that not many people have done!

and simo has ernt alot of respect in the saxo world as he has the 1st vts turbo!

i do get what you mean though, but wheres the fun in buying a car than anyone else can walk into a show room and buy?

i make that about 40mm greater diameter (rough summing in my head) than mine (195/45/R15) so yours will be more accurate. when i find a calculator I pm you the proper difference if someone doesnt before hand...

anyway to the thread....

Huge respect when these plans are put into action dude, bit more serious investment in the pipeline it sounds like:fcuk:!

Massively impressed with i think it was George Gomez's red saxo on here, that was lush and ruuning some stupid power (300+!!!)

Was yours the worlds first or the UK's first Simo?

i totally understand, the only reason i CAN critisize is that i know what its like, my fiesta turbo was individual and a very special car that i tipped ALOT of cash into and it did become a very quick car etc mag featured and won fast ford car of the year.. BUT knowing that and knowing what i spent i wish i'd have ploughed it into the cossie as blimey my cossie would be a 10s car by now :(!!!

So now i just do my best to make people realise the logic of it all :)

Barry123
25th July 2007, 22:31
customising is an individual taste. for instance I dont give a fudge about speed... everyone's different.

Adamski_frst
25th July 2007, 22:37
see thats where i am not if i could be in a car that looks amazing but cant get up a hill then it'd annoy me to hell..... but if i'm in a car thats fairly good but goes up a hill in 5th then i'm more than happy! :)

Simple answer...... to see what would happen!

When my car was turbo'd initially (2000) nobody knew whether the engine, etc could take the strain. Once youve started a project youve got to see it through to a stable level... then carry on developing if you care to. That's pretty much where I got upto with my car. Sure, there are things that IW ould change or do differently, but at the same time, its reliable... as long as you come to terms with changing the odd driveshaft and gearbox ;)

Regarding performance... dont read too much into booked figures and times. Its how the car performs and feels on the track/road that matters... not on a wet airfield, using some magazines dodgy timing gear ;)

On 205/40/17 wheel/tyres the speedo is virtually spot on.. by calculation and via GPS.

defo no doubt like i said its great what u have done and acheived, all i was saying is that when people ask me now about fiesta rs tuning i try and put them off huge conversions cause if they want a quick car as jeremy clarkson once said, dont make a slow car fast, make a fast car faster!!! As it is cheaper and easier in the long run :y:... think its nice for people who have been there to point in the correct direction for others....

But fair play to you, my vtr is nice to nip around in but i would never get rid of the cossie...:)

170bhp from a 1.6 16v Tu engine is not Full race / rally - mines pushing 170ish at the fly and is still perfectly driveable around town etc,

200bhp+ (N/A) from the vts/gti engine is full race spec

just how far out is the saxo speedo ?? its a percentage right ?.

It'll always vary from car to car.

I was doing 80mph all the way home from the lake district today on the speedo and the satnav always read 78/79mph which is pretty accurate generally

Tupps
27th July 2007, 08:27
Once i reach 81mph (On prvate roads obviously) in the works van the sat navs screams saying im doing over 70mph.....
