Use the good old, 0800 reverse if you get lost. Shouldn't get lost with a Tomtom though.

the whole point of expenses is that you pay the money out then they give you it back. they won't give you it just cos you're skint. All they will tell you is that its your fault you haven't handled your money better.
That's what my boss said to me when I moaned about our petrol money expenses cos my car was broken.

My tom tom on many occasions has gotten itself lost and I have ended up in a dead end and it is still telling me to turn left or right. It is madness. Just the other week, it took me off the M5 for no reason then told me to go down these country lanes and then rejoin the motorway on an emergency slip road. In the end I just turned off the f*cker and found the way myself :y:

Very straight forward drive as its almost just two straight roads really
M20 or M2/A2 (depending on where you start) and M25
Make sure you have a £pound coin handy as if you miss the junction for Dartfort and miss the next one to come back on yourself you could end up at the Dartford Crossing with out a £pound to cross :p
You shouldnt miss the exit for Dartford it is very clearly marked.
**EDIT**
One thing I will say, is that there are alot of very heavy roadworks at the A2/M25 Junction so keep your wits about you and listen to Mr TomTom, like I said if you get to the tolls for the Dartford crossing then you have gone to far

Make that £2... as you will need one to go through to Essex and another to come back to Kent.

26th July 2007, 12:29
Well yes two would be handy but you could always get cash at lakeside or buy something at services etc but if you get to the tolls and you aint got one, you stuff'd
I got in the wrong lane once and only had a fiver but went upto a autotoll which dont give change, I had to get out and ask the bloke behind me if he had change of a fiver
He didnt but just gave me a pound, I even offered him the whole five pound note in exchange but he just waved me away, I was so embrassed

Lol, luckily never forgot £1 when I go into or out of Kent/Essex. Shouldn't still be paying for it anyway.

You wouldnt believe the amount of people that do tho, and the person in the box has to get out and take registration details and tax disc details so they can bill you via post.

for a pound its ridiculous, that thing was supposed to be free once it had payed for itself!!
Chris
26th July 2007, 13:15
But then a German company took it over and they could see it as a brilliant money maker, so kept the tolls.

Does the crossing/tunnel not require maintenance? Thats probably what the fee goes towards

Yeah, but then what about the Blackwall Tunnel, Rotherhythe Tunnel, Eltham Tunnel etc etc etc.... they would need maintaining as well, but you don't have to pay to go through them.

Chris I think your find its a French company (might be wrong but Im almost 99.9% sure its French), and How'd you think they pay for all them smart looking Land Rovers?
Oh and did you not hear that the prices are set to increase maybe later this year or maybe next year I think to £1.50 for cars and other vechiles increasing aswell, there is talk about if you live in the local area I imgain Dartford (Kent side) and Purfleet (Essex side) they will give a discount to about £1.20
If you have a DartTag like suppiled to my missis via her work place she gets a very small discount per crossing, when I looked into it was a single figure discount which amounted to about 7p off each time and you had to remember to top up the bloody thing so I desided it wasnt worth it

I assume that they are smaller passings so would be funded from our taxes etc. Bigger structures like the Dartford Tunnel/Crossing and the Humber Bridge are surely more costly to maintain.
Doesn't affect me much anyway cos we only use the crossing and tunnel once a year at the most.

The Blackwall Tunnel is about 4 times the length of the Dartford Tunnel and it's also about 100 years older and in need of desperate repair IMO.
Plus, what the hell do we pay Road tax for if they make us pay to use certain roads anyway!?!?!?!

Exactly, just another way of getting money of us, with the amount of Viechles(sp) that must pass through the QE2 bridge and tunnel, must make so much money.

Lol not really but i think the fact the roads were moving so slow helped. I got lost once, and that was actually in Darftford town hehe... tomtom helped me all the way. Part from when i had the music to loud and missed my lane. *whoopsy*

No need to sound aggressive is there? I was just saying that's usually what happens with expenses. If your company are good enough to do otherwise then bully for you but don't go mouthing off just cos your circumstances are different to what I said

I did ask for this to stop.... it hasn't, so the thread is now locked.
Next time please take note of my request and stop being so stubborn.
