before anyone says it i know 6x9's are hated but each to their own. i recently bought a boot build, 2 subs and an amp for the saxo from a guy on here but have problems with it now. i wasnt sure about the subs as it would involve sound deadening the car so i wired in my 6x9's to the amp.
these promptly blew as they were rated at 240w compared to the 480w amp. i therefore bought 500w 6x9's, since im left with the holes cut in the parcel shelf anyway, but they are a lot deeper sounding than the front (standard) speakers. any ideas?
when i put some fade to the back speakers, they vibrate a lot more than the last ones and the bass is almost nonexistent on songs that used to be have a good bass tone to them.
ive tried playing around with the headunit but to no avail. should i uprate and amp the front speakers? or do i need a crossover and at least one sub to get the bass back?

arent 6x9's suppose to be able to output much lower frequency tones (wider frequency response) than the standard speakers anyway?
or have i miss read the question? lol

do you mean they are lacking in treble?
if so it could be because the amp has a 'crossover/cutoff' dial which is used as a threshold for determining which is the highest frequency that goes to the sub and lowest frequency that would go to speakers.

even when i put the treble as high as it will go on the head unit its still much lower than the front speakers. will this just be because of the difference in size between the front and rear speakers do you think?
the amount of vibration coming from the 6x9's is unreal, im thinking of taking the amp out and just wiring the 6x9s to the head unit but with them being rated so highly i dont know if il just get the same problem as i have the now

You will find that the subs in the boot are rattling the shelf and the bass is killing the 6x9s!
Also quote RMS figures as MAX figures dont mean shit all.

thats another reason i took the 2 12" subs out and put the new 6x9's through the amp. theyre not in the boot at the mo. just the amp and 6x9's.
dont know how to calculate rms, all the info for the speakers is as follows : Specifications (per pair):

1,000 watts
Power Continuous (RMS)
150 watts
Frequency Response

first of all the amps a sony mate, get rid of it there really crap
i dont agree with 6x9s even if you do have no sub in the boot so it makes them a bit better
your speakers run at 150 watts rms, the amp at 190 watts rms
dont turn the gain all the way up on the amp, use the filter on the amp
you still wont get front fill will all be in the rear so id suggest you get rid of it all and start again
simple set of components up front and one sub in the rear, run that off a 4 channel amp in tri mode and you will have a decent sounding system
theres a jbl amp on ebay for 61 pound i think
basically 2 x 100 and 1 x 300 in tri mode, its cheap, great an ideal for a starter system imo
